When did Gwen disappear from newbie land?

I bought and started a char for proph....Gwen isn't around anymore...when and why did she leave?

On a related note:

I am still amazed at how many people still think they need to buy the flute or cape to gain Gwen's friendship, I always found flowers and the quests to be enough.

But don't you want her to have a cape to keep warm and a flute to pass the time? Meanie.
