Today's logon for me was the first time in at least a year. There's a whole lot of new stuff ANet has added since then, most of them little quirks that go a long way to making life easier.
I noticed, however, when I made one of my disposable PvP only characters, that a large chunk of the customizing options were missing; more precisely, the two screens where you set secondary profession and all your skills, and where you select your equipment and add runes.
This really pisses me off. Now, having a PvP only character is hardly beneficial, as you're more limited than PvE characters in most aspects. For example, I can't make a PvP only Axe Warrior because he only starts out with a sword. In order to play with an axe, I have to use one I found in PvE? Wtf?!
What was so fun about PvP only characters before was how easily disposable they were. If a certain build wasn't working, you could trash the guy and make a new one from scratch. Now, however, all PvP characters of the same profession are exactly the same; you can't change their runes (I believe they don't start with any, actually), their weapons and upgrades, etc.
To you, I pose a few questions:
1. What was ANet's reasons for this (in my opinion) terribly stupid "improvement"?
2. Is there something drastic I'm overlooking, i.e. you actually can make those changes, like weapon upgrades and runes? (I got so fed up with the lack of options that I just quit.)
3. How do you feel about this? Was ANet's patch so long ago that it doesn't matter to you anymore, or are you still ticked?

My first bit of advice is: Learn to Read.
My second is: Look for dropdown menus.
Firstly, in your Skills panel, there is a dropdown menu where you can pick your secondary.
Second: In your items menu, there is a "PvP Equiptment" button. Click it. This is where PvP items come from.
ANET made everybody's lives 1,000 times easier with these. Use them.
