What to do with hard insults?

I was wondering if you can do anything about ppl insulting you. I dont think just sitting and ignoring them is sufficient.

Last night I was playin AB with 3 guildies and a friend from outside of the alliance. We all are spanish, so we were speaking spanish to coordinate in game (my mike is dead).

Then, one of the groups began to say samething like beaners (at that moment, I didn't know what was that). One minute after they started to scream: MEXICANS GO TO HELL, WE WANT YOU ALL DEAD. I HATE MEXICANS, THERE ARE TOO MUCH IN CALIFORNIA. And in private: I'll gonna burn you beaner. Go RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO to your home.

And thinks like that, I was wondering if anything can be done with this stupid people.

The funny thing is that they blame me for speaking spanish, and when I told them that I wasn't mexican, they begun to blame all latin american people, when I told them again that I wasn't even american, they just shout up. It was funny.

Take a screen shot, write down the time and place of the incident and report them as a racist, done. Open a can of beer, sit down and watch the rerun of heroes. Log on guru and see a new" I just been banned! can anyone help me?!!" thread.

for me "but i am not mexican - bast latinamericans - but i am not american - silence" is pretty good. It made him look like really closeminded fool and hopefully realize something ... meh, who am i kidding.

I take it you warned him you'd take shots of the conversation, otherwise how did he know it was you that got him banned? I thought the process was anonymous. Although he could have wised up to the fact you were the only person he'd acted like an ass to.

I suggest you take a scrn cap, and report. But also remember they can't insult you, the only means in those words are the ones we attach.

lol, you did the best thing there and i hate the fact that it goes on.

To be honest i do admire you for even bothering to learn English, i mean most British people when they go over to Spain and other countries they expect everyone to speak English which is an insult to Spain and other countries cultures.

So my advice is just to ignore it, sure it will make then say more insults but thats just because they are getting angry as the aren't getting a reaction out of you :P

That isn't just insulting, it's racism.

I had a dark-skinned character and, even though I'm caucasion, I recieved racial remarks from time to time. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt.

They're just kids whose families obviously condone xenophobia and the best thing you can do, like -Loki- said, is to rise above it and feel grateful that you aren't one of them. Report it if you made screenshots too.

when i went to spain i learned spanish in about 3 days, by the end of the holiday i was ordering meals, drinks in spanish, chatting to people and stuff in spanish .. i was only 14 then =D

If they whisp in a few days things like "you got me banned!", it mean Anet did take action, which is good.

Complaining may, perhaps, encourage them, but it also let's the asshat bigots know that you won't stand for it. With any luck, a complaint to ANet will get the slime-ball banned, and then they will know that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Back on topic, if someones insulting me in game I either put them on my ignore list, make witty remarks back or just ignore it. If it really makes you feel bad report them but I don't need the hassle tbh.

Remember kids, racism is bad but ableism is okay.

The same thing happens to me when I start speaking french...
They are like : "shut up you stupid french person" or other more vulgar insults..

Anyway, I have reported many incidents and have gotten angry pm's back, lol

Know that you are a better person because you did not retaliate in kind, and you did the community a service by reporting this kind of behavior.

It's hard to just ignore hateful comments like that. I feel for you. Try turning off local chat next time.
