Hair Stylists?

This has come up in a number of threads but I thought I'd make one specifically for the subject.

We've already seen what could be new hair styles for a Mesmer and a Ritualist. They could also just be NPCs, or, like one possibility for the "elemental" hands, NPC-only parts that they're putting in so they can more easily make NPCs and monsters with greater variety and less of a resource footprint.

Has Gaile confirmed or denied that there'll be a hair stylist NPC or some other way to change appearance? I know at one point a long time ago a dev said it was a good idea and they didn't see why they wouldn't be able to do it, and it is one of the most widely requested features. Maybe they're holding off to announce it as a surprise? *wishful thinking*

Do you have pics of those "new hair styles"? Would be nice to see one of those hair npc's though would be cool to have your head on fire or....something......no wait nevermind lol.

Well, by now (at this point we know that EN will be the last product made for GW1) Gaile has been saying some pretty definate stuff, like "There will be no Auction Houses in GW1". I have just been seeing more direct answers when i'm listening in.

HOWEVER, she said she didn't know about Hair Stylists. Thats a good sign at this point, I'm actauly going to put my money on it.

I bet there WILL be hair stylists.

It sounds like an awesome feature and I think it's the least they can do if the game won't have new character options.

I am also hoping that there will be hair stylists. I would LOVE to sink my gold into vhanging my ele's hair to suit her personality for that week. Will she be cold, and stiff like Earth magik? Or will she be wild, and fiery like the magik she's been trained in since she was a child?

And besides, I havn't touched my ranger in weeks because I cant stand to look at her ugly hair. D:

Isn't this an expansion? I mean you won't be able to create a PvE char using GW:EN roleplaying button, but the button from the 3 campaigns. So basically I doubt there will be anything new about your charracter interface (hair-style, face,...)

The previous campaigns lacked hair stylists due to the very fact that each campaign added new hair styles.

Since GW:EN will be an expansion and will not support character creation, and as such you will not have more hair styles to choose from, it seems only fair that they implement new styles in some other way.

Jora's hair suggests the Norn are in possession of some epic hair salon.

I imagine there would be a riot if that was added. A face is a very personal identifier!

If everyone was just running around changing faces then Role Playing would mean a lot less. I don't think GW is the kind of game for that.

Quote: Eye of the North will involve character development beyond level 20 Anet are focusing on ways to develop our current lvl 20 characters so new hair styles could be a suprise in there somewere.

However:
Quote:
We've already seen what could be new hair styles for a Mesmer and a Ritualist. Anet released a screenshot of a person fighting a Charr. This person was speculated to be a Ritualist instantly over on GWO until people pointed out she was wielding a shield and an axe/sword and she used the battle stance of female warriors and rangers.

If this is the screenshot your referring to (i dont think i have seen any screenshots of a ritualist) the person fighting the charr is Jora the norn hero - not a ritualist. So the hairstyle is an NPC one.

Of course if this wasnt the screenshot you were refferring to is there any chance of a link too the pictures you are talking about?

OK, to address the above...

I doubt this will be the last GW1 expansion/campaign, seeing as it would leave them with no real revenue from Guild Wars for a year and a half window.

It might seem strange to add a feature like that in an expansion, but they're adding a whole new condition (cracked armor). If they could put in a new game mechanic, then I don't think a new merchant is a long shot.

The Ritualist I saw was on a "developer" character select screen, sporting a new set of Ritualist armor. The pic was either leaked or faked and instances of it have been taken down, so out of respect I'm not going to dig up the link and post it again. But no, it definitely wasn't Jora. It looked like short brown hair that was a little bit spiked on the sides, on a female Ritualist. I don't know, maybe it's from Factions and I just forgot about it.

Here's a link to the Mesmer pic: http://gw.onlinewelten.com/gallery,pic1577.html

Yeah they need to stop beating about the bush and just add this.

If they wanted to get a bit creative with it, then maybe we could have a system where you have to use style cards for each campaign/profession combination. e.g. Tyrian Ranger, Canthan Mesmer etc. These could be random drops (monsters dropping hair stylist cards lol)

If GW:EN only added hair stylists, and nothing else. I'd buy it, that goes a long way. I hope Anet realizes that most GW players would give an arm and a leg to change the appearance of their characters, just the slightest.

Some of my characters permanently wear their headgear (rit, warrior) so that I can cover up their hairstyle. How sad.

I say no to hairstylists, you make a character and it should stay the same or it just loses it's novelty if you get my jist.

So we want to make GW like Runescape, how sad. Don't like your character's hight, skin tone, hair style? then re-roll just like the rest of us have had to these last years, it's not like character advancement is hard anymore, runners all over tyria, power lvling in cantha, and NF is a complete joke. The addition of new appearance features with each expansion was nice but not the fact that you could only use the appearances specific to each campaign, I personally have boycotted ever running a dervish or paragon or anything out of the NF expansion because the idea of running around as a bottle tanned bimbo makes me ill.

I made my Warrior two years ago before either of the expansions were released. I've played as him so much now I don't want to reroll. It would mean getting all of his elite armour again, titles, etc. And now with the Hall of Monuments, re-rolling my character just to change his hair style would be ridiculous. And what if the third year birthday presents are really awesome?

I see no reason not to add a hair-stylist, I'd love some of that Factions hair for my warrior.
