Just checked this out on i4U.
While I'm certain they would'nt develop a full version of GW for the PSP, they could possibly make a "dumbed down" version with cross over content.
Funny...Just the other day I told my friend that if the iPhone ran Guild Wars, it would push me over the edge and I would just HAVE to buy one...Now the same goes for the PSP..

The PSP can run the internet, but very slowly.

Whats more likely is when the PSP2 comes out with the built in phone etc it might be GW compatible.

An MMO on a handheld gaming device? Craziness.

Seriously, and people have problem with lag in GW now. I doubt it'ld be an MMO. They'ld probably do a PvE type thing where you could attain content that you could take into the full version of GW.
The did something similar with Dungeon Siege.

God I hope not, I do not want to have to buy another platform to play a game. If they are gonna force us to buy a sony product to play GW or GW2 I hope it is the PS3, not that I want to be forced to goto the PS3, But it is much better then the PSP options.

Sigh. GW will never appear on a console, since the ArenaNet developers have has no experience with console gaming (to put it simply)

The deal was for PS3-exclusive MMOs, with emphasis on "exclusive." I have no clue how you interpreted that it was PSP only out of that press release...

That's baseless doom and gloom based on uninformed and faulty evidence! That should be permission to flame you incessantly!

I think it was this bit that gave me the impression that GW MAY have a place in the PSP's future..
"Together with the Internet-enabled PSP, we're confident that SCEI and NCsoft can develop unique and compelling online experiences that will be found on no other platform.”
Again, I emphasize "may". Guild Wars is a popular title and companies are always looking to expand their franchises into any viable medium.
I also stress, again, that personally, I highy doubt that a full PvP capable version on GW would be produced. PvE adaptations of PvP titles have been done on handhelds in the past. (admittedly, sometimes with little success).
Doom and gloom, you say? That is a matter of opinion. Poor evidence, you say? It would appear to me that there's at least enough proof to allow for conjecture.

And how you got PS3 exclusive out of the press release given that the first paragraph says...
Quote:
NCsoft Corporation, the world’s leading developer and publisher of online games today announced an exclusive game development deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. that provides for NCsoft to create several online games for SCEI’s PlayStation platforms, including PLAYSTATION 3 and PSP, accessible through PLAYSTATION Network. The announcement was made today at the E3 Media and Business Summit taking place in Santa Monica, California.
is beyond me. The press release goes on to say that the games would be created from both existing IPs as well as new IPs. No where did it say which IPs where going to be used.

You presume far too much. When you work there maybe you can tell us whether or not they have 'no experience with console gaming' and not sound like someone who has no idea what they're talking about.

People don't start working at the companies they 'currently' work at straight out of the womb you know. Yes, yes! I can confirm it! Games are made by people... More than one to!

It just said NCSoft has an agreement to make some exclusive MMO's for the PS3. It did not say anything about porting over existing MMO's to the PS3.

GW is heavily designed around Microsoft Direct X. They would have to redesign the graphics engine.

The fact that you refer to IGN as a clear source perplexes me. No actually quote from Jack Tretton. Exclusive deal to me still sounds as if it means they aren't going to do anything for the XBox or Wii.

I'd like to also point this article out...
http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/07/12/...s-for-the-psp/

The actual quote from Jack Tretton is on Joystiq.com at the 12:18PST mark.

"Let's start with our partners games first. We're providing them with the tools they need to develop great games for the PS3. We're very pleased to announce that NCSoft will be joining the PlayStation camp. You probably know them from Lineage, City of Heroes, and Guild Wars. Very soon, they'll be brining that to the PS3 exclusively. Only the PSN can support the types of games NCSoft has become famous for."
What is seen here are two different uses for exclusive. One, the Sony use saying PS3 exclusives. Two, the NC Soft release say exclusive deal with Sony. I'm going to go on a hunch that the NC Soft press release is a little more accurate than what was probably no more than a minute of Jack Tretton's time hyping up the PS3 all he can at another press event that centers on hype.

The original post provides a link with evidence for the PSP remarks, and your only retort is to provide your own link!? If your commenting on a thread how about focusing on the subject provided. Yes I know you posted your own source, but that was after your insigating post.

It all appears to be just semantics, exclusive... platforms.. ect. But it clearly says that NCsoft will create online games for PSP.

Oh wow, that coming from Zinger314. Your known on this forum for posting baseless doom and gloom based on uninformed and faulty evidence.

Don't worry I'm sure there will be an Online Gaming PSP forum you can post your "Sky is falling" threads

And so how is WoW? Can't be too exciting since your still posting and haunting a GW site; The very game you have admited to leaving... While constantly highlighting its death-coughs.

Edit: General And the PSP's can be used as a controller with PS3, so who knows what they can dream up.

I honestly hope that gw going to the ps3/psp doesn't happen. I think no good will come from it but, that's just me.

Lol, who plays the psp anymore?
It was a failure.

I don't think that ANet would be like, "Yay lets put gw on a system that no one plays."

Sigh. People aren't flaming you because you're wrong. People get things wrong all the time. They're flaming you because you get things wrong with such incredible arrogance and self-belief. I get the feeling you're parodying yourself in an attempt to be funny. Either way you've become a cliché. As for your comment about their lack of experience on the console, there's no reason why they couldn't get in a 3rd party to do the conversion, as is often done. Maybe even Sony itself.

Personally I'm in favor of GW on the PS3, if it ever happens. It would certainly be a boon for Anet. The only downside I can think of being a possible Eternal September, but it's not like the GW community isn't already at that level anyway. Maybe a crappy client conversion too (I believe FFXI suffers from this?)
