Lag Issues – 1 July
We wanted to let players know that we are aware that some of them have experienced latency (lag) over the last few days when playing Guild Wars. The issue is affecting many services that route through the Internet hub in Frankfurt, Germany. Our network teams report that resolving the issue is, unfortunately, outside our direct control but they are tracking the issue and doing what they can to prioritize the matter and to assist in resolving it. We apologize for the inconvenience and will do what we can to assure that this will be resolved as soon as possible."
has been there for a week or so now. I've done a little googling but haven't found any news on what the problem is or if/when it's gonna be resolved.
So I wondered if A-Net had any news or updates regarding it?

I would like to see a poll here so Anet can see an easy inventarisation of what percentage of the players is affected by it. Reading hundreds of posts doesn't work, checking a simple poll is easy.
Whomever is responsible it should be resolved quickly. it can really be only ANet OR its host, otherwise internet troubles would have been all over the news when lasting a week.

Please see this page for the most current information. The discussion page is quite valuable, as well.

Aha. I didn't realise the wiki had 'official' information on it; I'm still in the habit of just checking the www.guildwars.com website. Cheers for that info, anyway.

They ask for reports for only the period from Monday morning and on. In other words, some of the maintenance this weekend may have helped, may not have helped. I will put up a poll now about this. (Good idea, Patrick!)

Fear not. The online shop still runs as smooth as silk. |

You would notice either if the shop suffered from lag, a webserver needs time anyway to load a page, which usually takes longer then any lag issue anyway.
This is also why two people in the same country but on different ISP's might be having totally different experiences.
It's still bloody ridiculous here, getting spikes like this still :-
If anyone from ANet can explain how a game can be playable with a latency like like that then I'm all ears!
GW Support gave up after about 10 emails back and forth stating that "There is no lag problem"! Even though my -diag report, and screenshots, clearly showed a severe problem.

Anet might well have no issue with lag and when support says "Well, we checked but everything is working perfectly on our side" they are very likely telling the truth.
The one you should be yelling at is your ISP, I suggest you contact them directly after doing a trace route to the server IP thats visible in GW.
If you dont know how:
Start - Run - CMD - tracert ***.***.***.*** (replace the stars with the IP adress).
Don't need to contact my ISP at all. I'm on a really good ISP with great customer support and they've already been in contact with the ANet tech people after they'd carried out checks themselves which also pointed to the problem being at ANet's end. Yet once again, ANet refused to admit there's even a problem.
It's not my connection too, I have a fast 8MB MaxDSL line with no shaping applied at all. Plus, it's only Guild Wars that suffers from this high latency, no other game at all comes close. Infact, I don't get a latency of more 100ms on 99% of my other games.
