I just noticed that the scroll trader is selling Urgoz passage scrolls.

A guildmate confirmed that the trader will buy his FoW passage scroll. So it doesn't seem much of a stretch to assume that the trader will also handle deep and UW scrolls, once people sell enough to him. But if you can confirm this, please do.

Now how long will it take before a decent stock of them builds up so people stop trying to buy/sell them via chat ?

It's news to me, and good news, for once. Not enough to drag me back, but it's nice.

It's new to me too O.o And I agree, the addition of FoW and UW-scrolls definately would be convenient.

Sure the trader can handle UW/FoW scrolls... but the prices will have to climb a LOT before they will ever actually be in stock....

o.O isn't the trader price determined based on how few the trader has? so how exactly does the price go up when you can't buy em? O.O I think its just that more need to be sold to the trader...

Scroll availability throughout the entire game is FUBARed IMO. Some merchants sell blues, other town merchants don't. For example, my guild hall merchant doesn't sell blue scrolls. LA doesn't sell blue scrolls either. Yohlon Haven's merchant does though. As you can see in the pic above, the RARE trader is selling COMMON blue scrolls. He doesn't buy them all though.

I don't know what ANet's intentions are for scroll availability throughout the world's towns/merchants/traders but it's something that needs to be made more consistent IMO. Pain in the butt trying to find a town that has a blue-scroll-selling merchant in it.

Yeah, and I just got an UW scroll for 1k.

I believe that we will see them there permanently in not more than a few days.

While I don't know exactly how the algorithm works, it does cause the price to increase when its out of stock. Personally I think it works by counting the number bought and sold, possibly over a time period.

But if the introduction of new runes (At factions release) is any indication, the price will rise until a stable stock is built up. From memory, this took over a month for jade and amber at the factions release. Until then you will see them being out of stock a lot of the time.

And the more people that know about it, the more people willing to accept a lower price for the convince of an instant sale to the trader. And the more people selling, the faster a stock can be built up. So spread the word.

Bryant Again, which update did this change come through on, since I don't remember seeing it in the update notes ?

What i wanna know is why the first and third scrolls are 100g, then are 800g when you buy them lol. Also why is there a blue scroll in there?

LoL, I suppose it'll be more convenient.

Urgoz and Deep Scrolls are worthless anyway.

That would be pointless. You can buy skills from skill trainers already.

For the most part, I'd say you're right. As stock decreases, prices go up and vice-versa. This variance is only limited by hard-capped high and low prices. One thing I have noticed, though, is that even when a merchant is 'overstocked' on an item and prices are rock-bottom, the price they pay for buy-ups is equal to the merchant value of the item. As it stands now, an individual can make much more by selling to a merchant than they can selling to the scroll trader.

If ANet wants to make the scroll trader even worth the effort, base prices are going to have to change somewhere.
