TIRED!!! of the bots

OK...so we have all seen the bots running 24/7....

I spent 2 hours the other day in Port Sledge writing down bot names....characters that were Monk/Warrior or Mesmer with tattoo grey armor popping into town, going to storage, running to the Whitman's Folly sign, then to the merchant. They would then be back in a few minutes or so and repeat the same process. Typical BOT behavior.

So I sent ANet my findings (list of 30+ names) hoping to get some of these accounts banned...

I mean WHY wouldn't they look into this...ban the account and make them buy another?

Well days later is it's even WORSE now....areas are full of the same bots!!!

ANet has been punishing the REAL players and doing NOTHING as far as I can see to stop the bots!!

come on with char names like:

xdjk Klywe (made up name) what do you think the account is

I know you've all seen this and wondered or don't care, but it HURTS the entire game with this stuff going on!

Keeps those Chinese working for a dollar per day from becoming criminals.

Why on earth would you spend 2 hours writing down names of all the bots? why not just screen shot the names and send it in.. that's hard proof.. not just a random list of names like Oh.. So and So is a Mo/W and a bot please ban!! Anet will be like uh.. Screen Shot please? how do they know that these aren't just people who've made you mad and you want revenge by getting them banned?

IMO, play the game.. sure I see bots all the times, I know anet bans them and they do, ban them I've even turned in a few myself, but don't let them ruin your game, just continue on about your business and screen shot them, dont just write down a list, you honestly probably didn't accomplish anything by just sending in a list.

Oh, and Anet will not let you know whether they did ban the accounts or not.

Who cares about bots?! The spammers are the criminals! Yes it's those that spend their time in town selling items that are the bad ones! Not the bots, hehe. Yeeees, bots seem to be allowed now. Not trading though.
So there you have it. Yay bots, boo trade.

Ok, i will start to do what you did as soon as the following happens:

Bot's have a vacuum that steal all the drops i get......otherwise it doesn't impact my gameplay

But im sure they are watching them to make sure they aren't real people who just farm a whole lot.

OK....

First...was working on drunk title....so had time to kill

Second....woulda taken 100+ screen shots and can't send that many

Third IT DOES affect you....influx of cheap gold into the game RUINS the economy

Some of those bots probably have children to feed... I don't understand why everyone is so upset about them, if people would stop buying gold they'd all disappear...

If Anet really want to get rid of bots, they need to crack down on people buying the old that supports the industry.

i dont get why ppl care so much about bots. they dont really affect your play. sure some ppl buy gold, but wat does that have to do with u?

Well first they're not bots but gold farmers of the sell for cash variety. I truly think actual bots of the run a program and go to sleep while your character goes out and farms for you is a myth.

As for it affecting the economy, well, there will always be farmers. The way I know the toll of farming nerfs and other Anet policies have been taking their toll on that industry is that yesterday I saw a gold seller spamming a website in Elona somewhere on the All channel saying gold could be bought in 10k intervals, starting at, 10k. That's astonishingly low.

That said, well frankly, the economy was better back in those days. I could earn more and make an honest living and have better income back then. Prices havent really dropped on high end items any, I sold all my ectos to pay for dwindling fund needs, and I dont make squat through average play of the game nor do I ever find anything to write home about anymore. So-called botters havent affected me any near as I can tell. Its Anet's moves behind the scenes to combat them, farming in general, nerfs on a wide scale etc that affects me more.

A myth go to these districts ANY hour of the day....same characters there 24/7!

My real agitation is the amount of bots, and how high internet gold STILL costs. But I'll buy it anyway just to spite Anet.

there not "Bots" they ARE Chinese Gold Farmers.

i actually got talking to one, he told me how much he gets paid for farming, his sex/age and name, and we also talked about his friends who do th same thing. he was even kind enough to show me what he farms...

he also told me his account got banned back in Febuary, so he had 2 steal another account, as he couldnt afford to buy one.

Quite a few are real people playing the game but there are also a lot of non-human controlled characters farming. Go up to Granite Citadel and watch them in action and you will see theres no doubt that a lot of them are genuine bots. As for myself, I don't even bother sending in names of bots but I will and do send in names of people trading real world cash for in game gold. A good spot for that is Temple of Balthazar International Dst 1.

For those that DON'T think that there are and most are't non-human controlled....welll spend 30 minutes in most areas watching mainly monks. Same repeated behavior OVER and OVER again.

They pop into town...goto storage...goto the sign post...goto merchant...bang disappear.....

Then in 5-whatever minutes REPEAT the exact same behavior....

Thats why its called a bot....go there at 3AM, 7AM, 11AM, 1PM, 5PM, 9PM or midnight....same character will ALWAYS be there doing the exact same thing....

So you say so what..who cares it doesn't matter to me...

So lets say I run the mafia...I rob banks and steal all the good electronics...you want this piece of equipment but can't find it cause I have 10 of them at 100k each...another LEGIT person has it but sees that the others are going for 100k each...this causes him to offer at 100k. And I have enough gold (cash) to not have to sell to you so I don't care if you buy my items or not...I'll just trade in the gold (cash) for somrthing else....like real world money!!!

Oh noes! Another bot thread! Not that we encourage bots, but this gets dragged up EVERY SINGLE DAY and Anet is aware of the problem.
