Key Points:

-Players will be able to transfer some armors, skills, weapons, achievements from the original Guild Wars chapters by storing it in the Hall of Monuments in Eye of the North

-Guild Wars 2 was conceived when ArenaNet thought that they couldn't continue adding new layers to the original because it would only complicate things for new players and the only way to change the core gameplay is to create a new game from scratch. (They learned from the mess created in games like Star Wars: Galaxies

-Guild Wars 2 will have both instanced and persistent areas. Persistent areas will allow for social opportunities such as making long-term friends along the way. The game will have different servers (such as in WoW).

-Different servers will be able to interact with each other in "The Mists" which is where players will be involved in "World PVP".

-World PVP will have many objectives such as capturing a castle or defending key points. Battles would last a week or so and updated weekly. Players of any level and any skill will be able to jump in and log out of the battle seemlessly. Their actions will affect the outcome of the battle. New players will be able to use this PVP area to learn techniques they could use for "high-end PVP" games.

-GW2 will take place 250 years after Eye of the North, in a time when humans are pushed to the edge by the Charrs and different races are emerging. Some of these races will be introduced in Eye of the North.

-Instead of a linear storyline, as in Guild Wars 1, GW2 will have many story arcs ("story bubbles") that players will be able to participate in (and affect other story arcs).

-Guild Wars 1 will still be playable and updated. Guild Wars 2 will also have additional content available for purchase that will be released on a regular basis. Expect to see free updates as always (from experience with GW1).

I like the idea of World PvP. It seems like PvP I can actually enjoy. The current system just doesn't do it for me but the World PvP system sounds right up my alley. I'm actually looking forward to it. It seems like they tried to do the same sort of idea with Alliance battles and failed but they learned from their mistakes, at least I hope so, because the World PvP seems more tactical and organized.

I also like the World PVP idea. It sounds like it could be very fun if there are enough objectives in it. I'm imagining a huge battlefield with forts and castles that belong to each world server. And the people who log in and out are footmen who have to defend their castles and attack the neighboring ones.

It'd be cool if there were some monsters in the mix of things. Not sure if that would complicate the game. Maybe different maps too? :O

I don't like the line about how we can transfer weapons. the weapons system needs to be completely redone.

Sounds pretty good! Pvp right now doesn't really appeal to me but this world pvp thing sounds somewhat interesting. I can't wait to find out more exact details about this Hall of monuments thing though >.<

It says Hall of Monument will have glass cases that will be opened only by our characters' "descendants" when it'll still be standing 250 years later o.o

Sounds neat. I bet it'll be a Xunlai type of agency.

I read that as you can transfer all of your armor sets, only some RARE skin weapons, and stuff like that. Remember, although they say tranfser items ect, i'm pretty sure it's SKIN only. example instead of having a sundering xx of fort it would just be xx with max damage for GW2.

I'd much rather that you can transfer armors/weapons, but they'll only show up on your statue in the Hall. Just pick what armor/weapon combo you want on your statue, and as long as you had that item in GW1, it'll look that way on your statue. For your other weapons that you liked, a simple "trophy room" would work. Your items should be DISPLAYED, but not USABLE. A simple tribute to your old character.

I would hate to see GW2 start players on different playing fields. Yes, it is necessary to reward players for their accomplishments, but you can't put new players at a disadvantage. A new game is a new game. If new characters were automatically given max weapons of rare skins, that's instantly put new players at a disadvantage.

What I find most glaringly unanswered is whether armor and weapon STATS will change between this chapter and the next with the change in level cap. It is possible that our "Max" equipment might only be mid-grade if the devs intend to raise the level cap to 40 or 50 (or no cap at all). Kind of like how if you had the money and materials you could buy level 30 armor in Ascalon - Not max, but it makes it easier on you just starting out.

I like the World PvP idea though. I think it tries to accomplish what Factions also tried - a transition for PvE players to get into PvP. I have always been interested to try PvP, but I dont have the time to get "good enough" to HA or GvG. If it sucks, there is still CS. :S

I think what is more likely is that weapons will become what is considerd max for the new game, and armor will probably like nightfall armor.

so basicly, i think the only thing that will transfer directly is the skin.

BTW this Thread would have been a very good reply to my 2 postings earlyer today. One was cloced out without any discussion and the 2and was removed. They were in no way flames or bad natured, just removed. I wont be posting any new threads for a week or so because I have to go up to Canada to "take care of something".
