Second Birthday miniatures are out!

I really wish they would have kept the "Dragon theme" going for the Green Mini's. A green Glint Dragon would have been pretty neat.

Thanks for the new minis A-net. I think all those who are squalling about the new minis should STFU. A-net gives us holiday events, celebrations, and birthday presents what other game out there does this?

A-net doesn't have to do any of these things but they do. They ask what people would like for their second birthday, and guess what world wide the answer came out to be more minis. World wide there was no other consensus on what else they could give. What else would you really want that could be collected, traded and bought? That is what the minis are about something extra that we can have fun with they didn't have to waste time on this or any other free thing they provide to us as entertainment.

We are not entitled to anything, we paid for a game to play not for anything else. A-net provided us with these extra things as a way to say thank you.

The proper response to thank you, Kiddies, is not you suck I wanted some thing else. It is You Are Welcome.

Further more we should be thanking A-net for providing us with these extras instead of whining about this mini sucks and why cant I have this or that like a bunch of spoiled, 2year old, bratty rich kids.

Except for the elf which would have made a nice Wintersday prize the new minis look great.

I actually see your point: Maybe Characters born in each Continent could get their own Mini's....

You're right that it will be strange for Nightfall only players to be getting Prince Rurik and Devourers for gifts ("WTF are these!??" LOL).

Oh well, that's not the direction Anet went. I suspect only those from the beginning will get Eye of the North pets next year (if we get anything at all after all the complaints!)

Just a quick point to say that if ANet removed the minipet from my inventory and left me a piece of paper saying "I played Guild Wars for 2 years and all I got was this lousy note", I'd treasure that MUCH more than my sodding Thorn Wolf.
At least such a note would be unique.

I wish they were customized and uncolored, at least. It begins to turn more into a gold-sink than an actual birthday celebration (unless that's their intention..?). And the fact that some are "rarer" than others is pretty depressing...

Still pretty saucy, that wind rider. I always liked that rainbow texture they had.

I think the new minis are awesome; especially the new Aataxe and the new Thorn wolf two of my favorite monsters. I got my Aataxe this morning and I’m so happy about it. I hope my next character gets a Thorn Wolf.

The very first character in my account, Master Demilikos, has been around.... 23 months??? O.o

And he was made 12:01am the 27th (preordered) pacific time -- I had waited all night to be the first.

I think the point making them tradeable is for people who don't like them to have options other than deletions.

The rarity is a double-edged sword. Plus, just because something is Rare (Elf is Purple?!?), doesn't mean it will be worth more. People will pay more for what they want.

If you don't like the minis...sell them. While I'm sure there are plenty of 2 year old characters on these boards, in reality having a 2 year old character at this point is incredibly rare. Ergo, the supply of these minis, even the white ones, is going to be rather tiny compared to the number of players trying to collect them.

People saying "I don't think I could get 5gp for it," are, quite honestly, exagerating to the point of ridicule. Even white minis from the first series like whiptail devourers go for 3k; whites from the second set are, if I'm not mistaken, as rare as the purples and golds from the first set. Gwen, holy crap, Gwen's price should put the bone dragon to shame.

So my Factions characters are about to hit their first birthday. Will they get series 1 or series 2 minis?

Have to say, while the minis themselves are ok, with exception of the wintersday elf(why?), I'm quite disappointed in that all the polls we did and discussions we had on the subject that clearly pointed away from minis was for naught. Several polls here on Guru showed quite clearly that, at least on this board, the consensus was against another run of minis for a birthday present. I have faith that the devs, in knowing that, would be able to brainstorm something unique for when we hit 2 years. Maybe a title for 2 year members, when in town it has an effect and when out the effect is turned off. We all know thats possible as the opposite is done for LB. With this string of minis we now sit at over 40 of them in around 1 years time. I think thats a bit much of a flood. Hopefully if/when the 3 year mark hits we'll have something different.

Mini-pets are going to be the yearly Birthday gifts. People "wanting" and "hoping" for something different are wasting their time.

Personally, I'd rather Anet worry about GW2 than appeasing people who won't be satisfied.

Mini-pets are Birthday gifts. Deal.

Maybe if you post over and over again about how much you don't need them, your opinion will matter.
