Ok, I've opened about 50-70 lockpick chests today/yesterday, in various places. I just wanted to know if anyone noticed any strange things about drops. My first 40 or so chests were fine, gold to purple ratio was very high just like everyone elses. Then, out of my next 20 chests, i get 15 PURPLES . Anyone elses purple ratio gone back to the old crummy normal mode one, or I am just the king of bad luck?

I've opened about 15 chests in hard mode with lock picks, 12 purples. I am not best pleased.

Same here, my teammates get just gold drops and I always have the grapes =)

A guildie dropped a Brute Sword r9 15^50 -_-

Well, I'm just saying, its extremely odd that yesterday all of my drops are gold, or like 80% of them, and today 80-90% purp. Or req.13 mesmer staves. I mean, I'm usually not like this because im rank 4 treasure hunter, and often I've had bad, terrible streaks, but this puzzles me.

If such an update existed, it might have been the new build that GW had me download at about 12:10 on friday night (EST). It went unnanounced on the GW website, and still there is no text up for it. It seems that anet realized how much the gold/purp rate was going to make for chest runners, and decided to nerf that too.

So far, the only bad thing about the locked chests for me is that A) I break every lockpick I use and B) that I got a monk and a warrior tome. Other than that, I've gotten all golds. Of course, I've only opened like 10...

Out of about 30 chests I've had 6 purples so far.

My purple to gold ratio is about 1:6 about now. No major complaints here.

Ive also noticed that after running 40ish locked chests, i started to get purples after around 30. Might Anet have slipped in some sort of 'Anti-chestrun code'?

It's true. I've been running alot at Port Sledge, first 100 chests was about 85 golds 15 purples and then i ran another 50, 37 purples

Its called....................RANDOM. honestly, ever since i've started chest running, there's been "gold streaks" and "purple streaks". 73 purples consecutively was my best record so far. Sometimes it seems to suck but its possible for chests to have a 99% chance of being a gold drop and you getting 50 purples.

I find it I get all golds if I chest run while doing the hokey pokey.
Also If I do the chest runs while there's a full moon standing on a pool of pig's blood, I get all grapes, so like, don't do it.

I stopped CR in hard mode since I can't use the W/A build for what its worth and the W/Mo build is well, just doesn't seem to work for me.

But in the few chests I did run - around 20-30 (lots of fying and retrying), all grapes. Wish I could run more.

As much as I'd like to think you are right to say that we're reading too much into this and its random, it would be just like anet to slip in some coding that makes the locked chests drop fewer golds over time. Because theyre all about "anti-grinding", which is why the new title requires you to grind through every area on the map.

opened 20+ chests, mostly gold
however i manage to retain the lockpick most the time when i got purple

After you have been logged into guild wars for too much time, your drops and % chance to get usable items from chests go to crap. It's not related to chest-running, its related to being online for too long.

Fix this by quitting out of guild wars, and doing something else for a while.

i keep getting lousier drops from the Hard mode chests, first had a decent gold rate but still a lot of non max mods. on my first 10 tries i broke 3 lockpicks, after that 8 broke in a row

Just tried today again, and even got 1 rare jade sword dropped from the Locked chest near the monk boss in Mount Qinkai.

My guildy laughted at me after seeing the stats -_- req 13 and no inherent mod, couldn't beworse really.
I'n the mean time i'l just wait with opening these chests again...
