pvp uses maximum crap armor... it sucks... why not just make a pvp char then??? the only reason i make pve chars is because they are unique when u use them in pvp... now i get to use crappy normal armor just like a pvper...
why not just delete my pve char since ill never get any shiny stuff anymore anyways... (except that i got acouple nice stuff that'll keep my chars from being terminated *obviously found b4 update during my literally* spare time)
Public relations nightmare!

They're the only ones who could afford it, and only because they got the drops of the entire group whenever they went out and killed things. Sure, I could do that too, but I don't like to. I LIKE the social aspect of the game, and it just seemed so unfair that playing the game like it was meant to be played yielded less drops than playing it alone.

Drop rates weren't increased in the slightest, as far as I (and others) can tell. In an 8 man group you still get 1 item per enemy every time, and it's still split among all 8 of you. Instead, playing solo gives you 1/8th of the drops, two players gives 2/8th, etc.
So, guess what. Remember that high end equipment only farmers could afford? Now no one can afford them.
Gaile,
You say ‘designed to support the social aspects of game play’ – Heroes killed that stone dead in NF
Reducing the drop rate, (removing the anti-farming code makes no difference to this), will kill solo farming. Just not worth the effort anymore.
This is, in my opinion, a bad move for the game in general.
This will completely change the GW economy in my opinion and result in the poor staying poor!
'Universal outpouring of appreciation' – I think not!

I just can't believe they thought it would go unnoticed. I really don't even solo, my 8 toons have the necessary equipment and gadgets. I prefer to do missions with Pug's and guildies and do quests with heroes and henchies, but I know I am in the minority of people that have played this game as long as i have. My only advice is when you release GW2 and make it a kickarse game, plz don't take out all the aspects that make it fun in updates(nerfs).

Some people enjoy getting armor. I know that I, for one, enjoyed earning money for the armor of my choice. I had fun.

I enjoyed farming, as did countless other people. You didn't. So what, that doesn't mean you're more right nor does it mean we are. At least the option was there. Now there is no option other than to do nothing but play the game normally.

Now on topic...I think that Gaile and the rest of Anet will find that their servers run better with less people on them. When all those kids and adults have their weekend to play and they get on they will be in a total uproar. Sorry Anet but you screwed yourself...at least the idea of a non-subscription game lasting this long was good...hope blizzard takes yall back.

Overrall, good update. |
I agree that they should have upped the drop rate for group farmers or did something like having a monster drop one thing for every PC in the group. My first impression of the update however is different than yours. I think it's a bad update because keeping farmable objects in supply kept the costs of them down for the players. That's how economics works. Since there is now no reason to solo farm, and people won't do it, except for the challenge. Furthermore if this update deters farmers from going out and doing their thing, prices will go up even more.
So drop rates are down, GP drops in hard mode aren't anything to brag about either (which might be sole good thing in an otherwise bad update), there's less incentive to farm, and lockpicks break too easily unless you've spent a ton of money on opening chests (at least 60K for the first TH title and a 2% boost) or the lucky title which is pretty rare to get and expenisve as well.
JR, if anet wanted to stop botting they'd go to granite citidel and start taking the names of all the bot monks who leave the town the exact same way.

Try not to use facts here, they aren't going to help the situation.

IMO this was one of the biggest mess-ups anet has done so far.

And hey, you can still solo. Now you'll just be getting the same amount of drops as the rest of us. I think this update is just great. Thank you so much Anet, and Gaile, I'm with you guys on this one. ![]() |
