You make it sound like the economy is completely player driven. It's not. There are NPC merchants and traders. And from the bulk of players complaining, it's complaints that they can't get armor. And last I checked, only NPCs sold armor, not players.

OK you get no more cash by playing the game normally. You get the same as before, farmers just get less. So now you can't afford stuff nor can farmers. Ectos will sky rocket and so will materials and other things. It's bad all round not just for farmers.

good update.. the hard mode was something that pve needed, now only if we could add 4 more heroes to our party.. seems abit dumb to have all of them and just have them slacking... hrmph!

And because of the farming nerf, why not lower the skilltrader cost? 1k per skill, hey that's a ripoff!

U cant get everything u need just by playing the game now tho.

er... the economy is player driven. That's why they had to roll back the game when the merchants reset and everyone bought ectos cheap. The buy cheap sell at normal prices 'would have ruined the game economy' they said. So they couldn't just reset the npc, they had to roll back the game to make sure people didn't get cheap ectos and the people ruin the economy.

The best option would be to scale the drops UP, solo farmers would still get the same amount of drops, and if you were in a full party, the drop rate from monsters increases for every other person in the party, so you still get the same amount of drops.

The way it is now, the drops scale DOWN, no matter what you only get 1/8 of the drops, that is what people are pissed about.

I think Anet will have a relations nightmare in the morning when the masses wake up to try their former favorite game. I really don't mind as my 8 toons are set with everything they need, but new people and people that want to try new classes are scewed.

Armour makes up only the bottom eschelon of the market. The weapons market is where people need money

Old world
8 monk bots can each solo instance each. The instance consists of 8 mobs. Each can do it in 32 minutes and gets 16k for the run.
1 bot = 500g/min

New world
8 monk bots enter and instance with 8 mobs and spread out, each soloing one mob in 4 minutes and gets 2k for the run.
1 bot = 500g/min

yep if the scaled the drops UP I'd have no problem

Seems like you guys forgot a lot of other updates:


Hard Mode Loot

* The average number of uncommon and rare items has been increased in Hard mode.
* While in Hard mode, the number of gemstones that players receive from chests after defeating each region of the Domain of Anguish has been doubled.

More loot and gemstones in general from hard mode.

Alternate Elite Mission Access

* Bosses in Hard mode now drop Underworld and Fissure of Woe Passage Scrolls. These scrolls allow a party to enter these realms even if their territory does not have the favor of the gods.

* The Kurzick Bureaucrat [Faction Rewards] in House zu Heltzer now offers Passage Scrolls into Urgoz's Warren. Players may exchange 1,000 Kurzick faction to obtain one of these scrolls, which will transport one person to the outpost.

* The Luxon Scavenger [Faction Rewards] in Cavalon now offers Passage Scrolls into the Deep. Players may exchange 1,000 Luxon faction to obtain one of these scrolls, which will transport one person to the outpost.

Now getting into those elite areas is even easier, especially not having to have favour for FOW. People can farm those areas 24/7. Still want to say ectos will rise sky high?

And if you're worried about the repeating anti-farming code, fear no more:

The Drop rate has LOWERED meaning that increased drop rate stuff is just Horse...DOO DOO at the moment.

Im hoping this is a glitch because I want the farmers to make money, because there are nice farmers who sometimes give me free stuff ^.^ and us Hobos Salute them.

Casual players could farm for like an hour and come out with some cash, now unless your a hardcore gamer its still gonna suck a load for u.

hmmm I just died four times in an AREA, not a mission not a quest! And I was given the return to outpsot option box, instead of respawning at a shrine... interesting

Ok I get you are not getting what is actually going on here as some other people dont dont either. Anerf really didnt do anything to the drops but 1 thing only. THEY MADE IT WHERE U GET 1/8 DROPS REGARDLESS of how many people in ur group in an 8 man area. They scaled the drop rates down. Not up but scaled them down. By doing so they screwed everyone over. not just the solo farmers but everyone. ie- even if u go in a 7/8 group you will still only get 1/8 the drops.

Thats strange, because I've yet to see you come up with any facts to refute any of the counterarguments for this change yet.

Namingly and in order of importance
1) Removes a popular source of enjoyment.
2) Increases the gap between the rich and the poor.
3) Does nothing to slow bots once their scripts have been updated.

No they got 1/8 before (if they were in a full group) and they get 1/8 now (whether the group is 1 or 8 it doesn't matter, your personal rate is the same).

The rate is the same as before, but they will do slightly better in hard mode since the chance of rares has been boosted slightly.

And this is relevant how, exactly?

Of course it will cut them down, but that doesn't really matter. They'll still be able to churn out piles of gold and drops compared to everyone else - and in fact more because time really isn't an obstacle when you don't have to sit at the computer to farm. This change does not harm botting nearly as much as it affects normal farming.

This is completely meaningless. It's vapid.

No really. When I say something it's generally right.

The reason why i continued playing GW when i finished the game, ie killed the last boss, credits rolled... is because i could farm for the good stuff. I'm sure thats what other ppl do as well. Seeing as now i only get 1/8 drops of what i used to get it which means it will take me 8x longer to make what i used to make in one hour you can't blame ppl for being pissed. thats 8 hours play for what used to be 1 hour. Also one of the interesting thing that keeps ppl in the game is to find the right combination of skills, ie solo builds, in order to solo different kind of monsters to get different kinds of loot. Why would they be motivated to test new builds when there is no incentive. i might as well take a wammo with heroes and go do missions over and over again. Honestly how many gold items drop from missions? so what is ur regular-player-who-farms going to do now? create another character and go through the game again? after that you do that for the 3rd time then what? delete a character and do it again? I'll be vomiting blood tbh...
