Why are you playing Guild Wars and what in your past gaming history led you to Guild Wars? I have been playing RPg's for ever. I think Zelda was the game that got me started and it was an addiction ever since. Guild Wars was my first online game and I have been at it since it came out. I chose GW because it was free to play and once I actaully started playing it I was hooked.
What attracted you to Guild Wars?

Instancing and the availability of NPC henchmen (and in turn heroes brought me back after a long absence). Basically I enjoy that I can treat it like a non-online game, playing it solo or with small groups of friends without being troubled by all the usual online problems. I get the sense GW2 isn't going to have that same feel, unfortunately.
A spur-of-the-moment birthday gift for my son (we walked by a game shop on the way to the restaurant for lunch) that engaged his interest so much that he convinced me to buy it for myself two months later.
And here I am, 13 months later, with no time to play any other games. In fact, I've uninstalled everything else - both IWDs, NWN, both Baldlurs, Civ3 and Civ4, Torment, Morrowind, etc.
I started with paper D&D, then to early RPG pc games, NES (I think Dragon Warrior was first), and on up through the development of console and pc RPGs.

I was a little interested in WoW but when I saw some really beautiful GW screenshots somewhere, I started following all possible sites and gathering info about the game. No subscription model, skill based gameplay and the looks that trumped everything else kept me attached until...
The first World Preview Event, after playing it I just knew it was THE game I always wanted to play. And since then I used every opportunity to play GW and will continue until GW2 which seems even more exciting.

I always wanted to play a MMORPG (which GW is not, but nobody knew any better when it first came out) yet I wasn't willing to pay a monthly fee. Soon after, I feel in love with architecture of the game. Gameplay is similar to MTG and the engine is simply wonderful in its ability to update more-or-less on the fly.
