^The sidekick/benefactor system:
If a player is like at least ten lvl's below you, you can sidekick them. As long as they are in close proximity to you, their lvl is temporarily boosted to one less than yours.
Benefactor is the opposite, the lower person benefactors the higher and the higher becomes the same lvl as the low person. (not sure if they're including this one too)

Because the CoH system is quite different.

One issue that prevented it from being as effective as you'd like was the issue of skills: lower players didn't have the more valuable skills that would be released at the itermediate level so a side kick usually wasn't as effective as a player who'd actually achieved the higher level. Nevertheless, my impression is that was generally popular and successful.
There has been significant speculation on the forums about what the loss of the level 20 cap will mean. I infer from the presence of side-kicking that the rate of leveling may return to what it was in Prophesies and that it's possible that there may be no "glass" ceiling on character strength based on level. Again, that's an inference, not a deduction of fact by any means. Further, even if it's true it seems to me that there are so many ways of managing leveling that it doesn't necessarily imply that grinding will necessarily follow. Although it did in COH back then.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Arenanet didn't percieve the elmination of it as a key opportunity for differentiation from WOW, a substantial portion of whose market they clearly want. After all, if you were a senior WOW player and a friend you trusted said, "you should try GW2, it has a lot of the same aspects, better graphics and no grind," wouldn't you be tempted to take a closer look? On the other hand, if I read that comment in any gaming magazine, I'd give it zero credibility. But that's another issue.

So they say it's actually 3 lvls, that's why I used the quantifier like 'cause I couldn't remember exactly off the top of my head and didn't feel like looking it up at the time.
I think the example shows why GW2 should get rid of levels.
Why do we need 100+ levels.
This would mean we would also need level 100+ mobs running around. And that my level 100 char can easily kill the level 1-80 e.g.
Get rid of the silly e-penis meter, then there is also no need for a sidekick/companion/lackey system.
People want to grow more powerful, yeah... +1. All these silly systems just so that people can become "you +1".

World PvP, if GW2 is retaining any mechanics from GW1, will not even remotely have a chance of being balanced.
I'd like to see a Necromancer or Mesmer-type character fight a Warrior type character...there will be endless complaining on the forums (OMG NECROS ARE OVERPOWERED NERF NERF!) It's half of the posts on the WoW forums. It'll be even more difficult to balance with that companion system...
