Well, its better than just going out and calling them a magical race of elves. ANet Guild War ifed the elves to give you Sylvari, and I like it.

I think I can tolerate an elvoid race, just so long as it's more Avatar of Melandru than Liv Tyler.

*reads thread, looks at pictures*

Oh, blargh. BLARGH I say! ELVESES! WE HATES THEM! They're not older and wiser than everyone else, but they're still designed for the Sparklypoo set. BLARGH!

At least the other three races are cool. Asura are sinister bunny-gnomes, Norns are giant shamans, and Charr are Charr.

I guess I have to admit with all these tough, gnarly races coming in, the sparkly Sylvari add balance.

Everything I read about the norns seem to suggest a pre-cognitive, angelic, and witchcraft-linked people. So I have this vision of gypsy-looking angels, possibly very hippieish, earthy, peaceful, and neutral.

Sylvari I could see being elfish, in the arrogant, athletic, and royal sense. I'm picturing Kurzick-like, where they have a love for art and nature, but care more about how they look and how much better they are than everyone else. Pointy ears? Not a real requirement, I think. They could be good or evil, I dunno.

The Asuras will likely replace Dwarves as short, industrious people. Probably engineers, all about technology and all about the bigger, better weapon. I'm thinking they'll be good, but hungry for war, since war craves technology.

Charr are probably jealous of humans and what they accomplish. They could be a proud, honorable people, or they could go straight savage, or somewhere in-between. Hard to tell where they will go from here. Good or evil.

Humans will most likely continue to infest the globe with their civilization, pissing off as many other races as possible. Good and evil.

[MOD EDIT: Removed pictures]

Sylvari:
curious,gifted
-beings of light uncorrupted by sorrow/suspicion/hatred
-proficient in things related to magic/dexterity
-supernatural connection to plants, innate bond to each other

Norn:
individualistic, stubborn
-shape-shifting half giants
-value personal strength/vitory
-revere spirits of animals/call upon them like shamans
-can turn into half bear

The Norn seem to have a slight Celtic influence.

So in other words, the Sylvari could be a hybrid of Druid/Elves?

Since there are no elves in Guild Wars, and the Druids have been gone; even before the first chapter starts.

all that talk about norn being able to turn into bears make it look like every race is bound to a class,or would every race has its unique abillity on top of their class skills? would be quitte lame as every warrior will want to be a norn for the increase armor+melee dmg. ofcourse i know the game is still in a very early stage

They did not say how many races were going to be in GW2. Those are the races that are gonna be introduced in EtoN and they are making them playable in GW2.

you got it all wrong........
go to this site http://www.theguildfriends.com/forum...ead.php?t=2106
it has pictures and quotes from the races

norns- half-giants with ability to transform to bear things

sylvari-sylva=tree in latin, they are forest spirits that are naive and inocent

Asura- spart, condesending little things that want to rule the bigger races, extreamly smart and technicly minded.

I was thinking the same exact same thing. I'm assuming that each class will have thier primary attribute. Which in this case, the Norns will have the ability to shape-shift into beasts/creatures, or from what I read somewhere, Asura's able to craft. Yes, it is too early to make conclusions.

Well I already posted the pics but the mods took it down, so don't be surprised if your link magically disappears in a couple days.
