I absolutely love his work, he definitely deserves the award.

I wish there was some kind of collective artbook for the three games that I could buy. Right now there are just the small artbooks that come with the games, but I'd love to have something bigger with tons of concept art from all of the games.

I love the insight provided in the Q/A session. I would like to see more artists featured in the same way.

Thanks for the information.

Ditto. The art direction is one of my favorite parts of guild wars. I wouldn't dream of passing on the collector's editions just to get the art books. Well deserved.

He looks kinda like Jean Reno from Leon in that picture, which him even more awesome. I hope he goes into anet offices with black round sunglasses and drinks milk all the time.

Just as long as the Anet offices aren't assaulted by an insane Gary Oldman and a hundred DEA officers.

Slightly more on topic, I could have sworn I'd already read that interview somewhere before...

Honestly, this gentleman is one of the true assets that Guild Wars has right now...his contributions to the game are simply amazing.

I wonder how many more breathtaking areas he is personally responsible for envisioning for the game...

"Rooftops" (one of the winning entries at the "Into the Pixel" digital art show at E3 2006) and "Urban Canal" (Master Award: Best Cityscape—Expose 4) were inspired by the Kowloon Walled City, the most densely populated place on Earth until it was demolished in the early nineties. Fifty thousand people inhabited a few square blocks of the most bizarre yet fascinating architectural structures, a miracle of human survival, self-governing, and coexistence. I would like to revisit this concept and do it justice as gaming platforms will soon be capable of handling that amount of 3D geometry.
The Art is fine on drawing. But the implementation was a load of bullcrap if anyone remember your time in the slums in factions. The slums were so Fugly that the only thing i wanted to do was to get out of there or turn the game off.

Otherwise Concept Art wise is fine, just a pity some of the concept art never made it into the game. Btw WTF happen to the flesh level we were promised with Nightfall?? unless of course it was the area around the Gate of Pain where it looks as if we were travelling down someone's lower intestines...so much for gore and grutesome terrain.

You guys know why he's such a great art director?

That's cuz Arenanet didn't show you guys this exclusive photo of him "enforcing" and "inspiring" his artists.
