Hello

ive looked thru some threads about Protection Monk and most builds i find are Boon prot, and something ellse that was Called Active Prot monk and didn't use the skill Divine Boon,What are the main diffrences which is most effective,is Boon prot still a good build for Pve?

the point is what kind of protection monk builds are there for normal pve partyn?
and how come there's so few pure protection monks around?
so any tip's on Builds.

check that thread for some preotection builds.

basicly a boon pretect relyed on the protection of RoF and gardiun to look after the team while healing with divine boon. but since the nerfs its become a back line build not favoured. if we know what games uve got we coudl give u a nice build to play with but that link i poisd has buileds for each game

Just about every thread in the monk forum has builds listed in it.

I'll just give you a model, customizable Prot build.

(Elite Skill)
Signet of Devotion
Reversal of Fortune
Dismiss Condition
Protective Spirit / Spirit Bond / Shielding Hands
Gift of Health
(Secondary Skill / Optional Monk)
(Secondary Skill / Optional Monk)

Skills that you would want to fit in if you want to change the build:
Holy Veil
Spirit Bond
Shielding Hands

Secondaries:

/W for Disciplined Stance, Balanced Stance
/E for Glyph of Lesser Energy
/Me for...uh...Channeling?
/A for Dark Escape and Return

Glyph of Lesser Energy can be compounded with Aegis for further awesomeness.

The Elite skill can vary from Zealous Benediction, Blessed Light, Divert Hexes, Shield of Regeneration (compounded with Glyph of Lesser Energy), etc, etc.

Boon prots were nerfed to death.
I run this:
[card]Shield of Regeneration[/card][card]Shield of Absorption[/card][card]Gift of Health[/card][card]Dismiss Condition[/card][card]Reversal of Fortune[/card][card]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/card][card]Aegis[/card][card]Resurrection Chant[/card]
13 prot
11 heal
11 divine
You can switch out stuff based on where you are. Skills like [wiki]Holy Veil[/wiki] and [wiki]Protective Spirit[/wiki] fit in perfectly. The elite is optional as well and should be changed to be more effective where you need it.

Or you can try http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:M...ous_PvE_Healer or any of the various similar builds.

People do use pure prots, but most people, especially in PvP, use [wiki]Gift of Health[/wiki] because of it's uber leetness, creating the hybrid monk.

Commenting on the above, Aegis can be switched out. Perma Aegis chain is hot though, even in pve.

I just 4 maned FoW as a zb prot, this build is a purty nice PvP build and it seems to work in PvE just fine.

zb, gift, rof, dismiss conditions, shielding hands, spirit bond, veill, glyph of lesser energy

PvP builds usually work fine in PvE since they're optimized anyway. There are exceptions, but there are always exceptions...

A build I've taken to quite liking in PvE is:

[skill]Shield of Regeneration[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Aegis[/skill][skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Blessed Aura[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

The Elite tends to change depending on the situation. In areas where there are lots of hexes like the god damn plants in Vabbi I take [wiki]Divert Hexes[/wiki], [wiki]Restore Condition[/wiki] sometimes gets a trip out, and less often [wiki]Life Sheath[/wiki]. I don't often use Zealous Benedition...to me it sounds nice but...there's just something about it I don't quite like. I did used to take [wiki]Signet of Devotion[/wiki] until I discovered Blessed Aura...

My build is probably very inferior, or old, though I am new to protection also so any input would be appreciated. Also, if someone could explain what the point of [wiki]Shield of Absorption[/wiki] is all about I'd be very grateful. I don't get it...HOW is it good?

So the first hit it absorbs 5, the second 10, the third 15 etc...

In heavy focus environments it can end up basically making the target invulnerable. I've seen it be able to completely negate a lightning orb before in PVP during a melee train on someone. Essentially the first couple of hits are a bit meh, but beyond that it goes to ridiculous levels of damage reduction.

Ahh, now that's pretty cool. The skill description, to me anyway, didn't make it that obvious. It just looked like it negates 5 damage each time they are hit, period...if you see what I mean. Thanks for the clarification

aa ok nice ill try some of the tips, but i guess ill skip the boon prot since it seems pretty nerfed and most dosent seem to favor it,i allso got all 3Games Prophecis,Factions,Nightfall.
but how come when i join most teams there's almost no Prot monk at all is there some special reason for that do ppl just dont care about Prot and jusat think they can out heal spike dmg cause whehn i play i rather have Heal and prot monk then 2 pure healers maybe that's just me.

Using BoonProtect in PvE will be fine in fact more than fine as you are providing a heal as well. The most common of all protection Monks is active even if the energy management isn't that great. Then there are certain places that require a Bonder or Barrier/Bonder.The only way to decide is to try what you like the most either active or passive.

Boon Prot is usable in PvE, but there are better options since the nerfs. It's not a bad choice if you only have Prophecies or something like that.

so any tip's on Builds. The reason there are few prot builds for pve is because people are bad at the game. As far as 'pure' prot builds, it's because to go full prot limits your ability to make red bars go up.

Your bar is heavily dependent on what your co-monk is running (unless you're solo monking like Shiz) but I'm a huge fan of LoD/dismiss/reversal of fortune/spirit bond/heal other/glyph of lesser energy/holy veil/shield of absorption. Big heals, efficient skills, awesome energy management, light hex and condi removal. If you want you can drop out LoD for Zealous benediction, divert hexes, or RC, and if you do that drop heal other for gift. You can also trade spirit bond for prot spirit.

I'd be a little wary of ZB in pve unless you are the only monk/healer. Even self heals can put an ally over 50% HP resulting in no energy gain from your ZB.

I personally run a ZB build, i find the usefulness of the free heal when energy is tight and since i run aegis and am not a mo/E its useful

Boon prot is only remotely useable with boon sig and a pile of other enchants, like channeling. It goes without saying that any kind of enchantment stripping will leave you totally ineffective.
