So I was in Lions arch trying to sell a few items and a guy said "YAY I JUST BEAT CANTHA EVERYONE SAY GRATZ" i said to him "gratz but you mean you be factions not cantha, canthas a place in factions," then he starts spamming "WRONG!!!!!!" i say how am i wrong? and he responds with some jappanesse word for shut the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up.

After about 10 minutes of arguing me saying thats one part of factions and him saying no factions and cantha are same thing dont matter Stfu ILL REPORT YOU TO A-NET CASUE YOUR SO FIN STUPID

Saying you beat factions is correct, beating a continent doesnt make sense.

Well Cantha isn't one part of Factions, all of Factions is in Cantha. But you still wouldn't say you beat the continent....

All he's trying to say is that he's just beat the Factions storyline, but instead of saying "I just beat Factions" he's used "Cantha". Then all he's done is port to Lion's arch to show off to the new Prophecies players and for some ego boosting gratification from the people who know what he's drooling on about. In a grammar confused way he is correct to a degree, and so are you, since Cantha is indeed the name of the Factions continent.

Semantics are squishy things to have an argument about.

It' s more precise to say, "I beat the campaign, the campaign being Factions".

Perhaps, he is like the Roman Emperor Caligula and declared war against the sea, but in this case a landmass.

Tip: Don't argue with idiots, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with you with their experience.

He's a plum. He should actually say "I beat Guild Wars:Factions" because that's the title of the GAME he's just finished. But, seeing as we know it's GW he should just say Factions. I've never heard anyone say they've beaten Cantha. OR, he could say he's beaten Shiro Tagachi, as he's the enemy you need to beat to win.

Next time you see him, tell him I've finished it 5 times and to shove that up his arse.

Why did you decide to correct him? I mean, its not like it really matters, or that anyone would care, right?

1. He's a foolish fool, like most random people you find in towns. Can't expect to correct them all, it'd take forever.

2. Divinus is right. You can't beat a continent! Only an asteroid can do that, and it'd wipe out everyone in the process.

Well, sounds like he meant it as an innocent enough correction, something I do as well occasionally. Like when someone (who had obviously never beaten Factions) was spamming: "WTS KUUNAVANG THE WOOD DRAGON!!!" in Kamadan. Yeah, no idea where they got the "wood dragon" bit from, but I tried to correct that without giving away spoilers. He/she didn't listen to me, but...idk, things like that just bother me.

At the point the person (who is doing something shallow in the first place, bragging about something literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of gamers have beaten him to...) gets in your face about something like that...yeah, I'd prolly argue for a bit, then resign myself to his stupidity. Not like someone like that would admit he's wrong.

And as far as him reporting you goes, I wouldn't worry about it much.

Like, one time some idiot said the tomato was a fruit and then I laughed and called him a noob and told him it was a vegetable not a fruit. Then he says, he says I was totally a moron. Then I totally pwned him and said tomatoes are not fruit because fruit are sweet and tomatoes are not.
