Final Event? True Finale?

So, I'm curious as to what the main site is hinting at with this announcement:

Specifically the bolded part. Notice it mentions the "special events take place every three hours", i.e. the arrival of the celestial pig, and the "final event" as two separate things. Supposedly, this "final event" started 30 minutes ago and will run till noon PST today. Any ideas what it is? Is there anything different that anyone can notice?

That means the final special event I think.

Also they mean the event as a whole (beetle racing, collectors etc.) will run through noon PST today.

Ahh yes, the wording had me all befuddled. That makes sense.

dunno.. what is with anet's wording sometimes.. it seems to confuse people.. lol.. heaps of people at this moment are debating one another in shing jea about the final event vs blah blah.. :\

lol yeah. rumors are speading about a HUGE finale event that's going to take place. matter of fact, some people are saying there's going to be a finale on monday 12:00 pm PST. weird how rumors "mutate." lol

Well, it was worded rather awkwardly and I missed the opportunity to get a mask because I thought I could get it today.

This final event wording sorta catches your attention. Guess I should check wiki and scour it every time I log in rather than read the main website. Sure, in retrospect, reading over the text I now see what they meant, but I actually have a job and I do work a lot of weekends, so I don't always have the time to read everything in detail cause I just wanna play. I just feel kinda like in the situation where you get screwed over for missing the fine print at the bottom of a contract.

Admittedly, it certainly isn't the end of the world to have missed it, but there goes my small joy from having all mask from all events....guess next time the events won't be able to capture my imagination as much as it did before.

Still waiting for that massive invasion of the Nian, for which I've saved all these fireworks

Gailespeak FTC* yet again. Hurah! This time she really went out of her way to make it sound like there was some special closing event. I still can't say there isn't, but four hours in, it doesn't look like anything is happening; besides an update that hasn't been explained.

This is an accurate assessment of what A-NET was trying to say. (just combine the blurb on the web site to the blurb on your log-in screen)

Somebody makes this same exact thread for every event. There has never been any special super finale since the game went retail.

I hope they have a differnt way to get the hats in the same way they did for the dragon masks.

Yes, because every time it can be interpreted as though the last event is going to be different than the rest. "with the final event beginning at 12:01 PST (8:01 GMT) on Monday, February 19. The event will run through Noon PST (20:00 GMT) that same day." That makes it sound as though there is a 12 hour event on the last day of the festival, since "The event" would most logically be referring to the event she just talked about, not the Celebration as a whole. Is it really so hard to say "The Celestial Pig's Last visit will be at 12:01 AM PST on Monday the 19th" and "The New Year's Event will end at Noon PST on Monday the 19th?"

It would be nice if there was a big finale where everyone got mini beetles....

No because then we'd have a thread complaining about how mini beetles got their rarity ruined because everyone got one.

I agree. Just a different variety of mini beetle. That way, the top 100 ones are still rare but everyone who played gets a piece of the fun
