Celestial Chefs: Why am i killing myself for this?

It didn't really help because the mass of other players and their shards would always vastly outnumber your shards anyhow and if they were standing for a hat you didn't want, then you were getting the hat you didn't want 100% regardless of how many shards you had. In essence, an individual player having shards or not was completely irrelevant to finale.

I'm going to go crazy with this collectible carry on, imo i think it's a total shambles. I don't like doing something if in the end it turns out to be for something that wasn't worth the effort, especially if I could have been doing something more profitable/progressive/helpful. I also would like to know what the story for the hats is, i.e. whether the collectibles are for that or not, and when they're available to obtain one, because I want one for all seven of my chars.

those chef items are really time consuming to gather... I wonder how much worth they'll be when the finale arrives :S.

heh I actually enjoyed this little hunt for ingredients thing, got them all in 1 day.

I'd settle for that. In fact, I think that's a pretty damn good suggestion. Persistence paying off the same as luck/skill combo of the beetle race

Perhaps you should ask yourself why it is you're forcing yourself to do something you obviously dislike doing - I thought about farming some ingredients but I also thought that I won't bust a gut doing so, to the point it gives me headache etc. or that I find no enjoyment in it at all.

Maybe you should take a step back and take some deep breaths, and ask what is REALLY important... who is there to impress, and does it really matter all that much that it affects your health and such?

My Theory:
1) To get hat, you'll merely need to be present, like most holidays.

2) Lunar Tokens will probably just be for prizes/etc (It is confirmed by Gaile that you will not need them for hat).

3) The "Chefs" will play a part in the Finale Event. Probably they will accept the ingredents after the Pig arrives and the Pig will reward the districts better (More Red Bag drops? Or w/e he will give as presents, I think the Red Bags) that give alot to the chefs. Or Something.

The requirements are ridiculous and unbalanced, and knowing Arena Net, the prizes for them will be something like 5 Sugary Drinks or 100 Lunar Tokens.

since nobody has brought this up i will.

it is a group effort and nobody is expected to get every item for the dinner.

you will probably (my guess) get something (token/ bag/ fortune/ whatever) for each x number of item z you hand over

my concerns are for players who cannot farm.

its a very short amount of time and its a lot of items and some are VERY hard to get.

I'd assume the pig gives out hats no matter what, but districts that please it also get spawning gifts or something like that...

Group effort? Sure, if you have a guild who has no interest in collecting the items for themselves.

By group he means all of the people in the same district you're in when the pig comes.

There is no requirement to have all the ingredients to get a mask. There is another reason that you want to have the ingredients. I will get details and provide them if/when I am able.

But collecting the ingredients is not a waste of time, yet you should not feel that you will be shorted, and not get a mask, if you do not collect them all.

Former, I don't yet have license to state the percentage of this that is accurate. I really want to check with the design team, out of respect for their having created this event and with my desire to assure that they are comfortable with my speaking precisely about what happens, when, and why. I will say that you've hit a major number of nails precisely on the head with these theories.

its really not that hard to get the items, most of them can be solo'ed using a 55hp or high armor build, getting the drops in no time. For example Island Guardians and Nightmares both weak creatures in tough areas, take the henches, kill the surrounding mobs, flag the hench away (or kill them) and take care of the monster alone making sure the drop is yours.

If anyone is having trouble getting a specific item feel free to pm me for some tips, most of them can be farmed in around 15-20 mins max.

The only one truly hard to get is the Ebon Spider Web, its an uncommon drop and requires a full party in order to kill them at a reasonable rate.
