Some tips, on builds

Hey guys, I have seen so many builds since the time I started guild wars, and was never able to make my own... I don't know why, I never really tried, how do you make builds?? Can I get some tips on how to make good builds for farming, like Witte Was and Hyro Yamaguchi do?? I just feel like getting off my ass and trying to make farming better...

Any tips?

Trial and error? That or take an old build... and use it somewhere where it takes all day to clear it and pass it off as a solo build.

1) Find a place you want to farm
2) Find skills to survive there
3) add dmg skills
4) try it out

Try out the options from your secondary classes.

Having issues with conditions? Try */N plague touch.

Having issues with hexes? Try */Me hex breaker.

Want to run through hexes and conditions without removing them? Try */R Melandru's Resilience or */Rt Resilient Weapon.

There are tons of benefits to each class, and you have to think through what you have difficulty with in an area to decide which secondary's skills will help you out the most.

For example, even just mesmer:
* Physical resistance for dealing purely with physical damage, and elemental resistance similarly--or mantra of frost/flame/etc. to deal with specific types of elemental damage (e.g., ruby djinns? try mantra of flame!).
* Backfire to rip apart casters, and empathy to rip apart attackers.
* Ignorance to disable signets (e.g., healing signet).
* Mantra of Resolve/Concentration to protect yourself from interrupts.

K, problem is, I don't know where to farm... I don't know what drops good, I'm trying to find a place that I can get gold weapons off, or purples, or money from drops.... Anyone wanna help me out with a place of where they think is a decent farming spot I will try and see about a build for it :P

Here's what I do when I'm making a farming build:Take your favourite class. (for example: a warrior) Look for an area with allot of the same creatures in it. (for example: [wiki]Witman's Folly[/wiki]) Go to http://www.guildwiki.org and search which skills the monsters use. (for example: Grawls use Belly Smash, Hammer Bash and Victory is Mine) Look for skills which counter the skills from the monsters. (for example: Riposte and Deadly Riposte to block the attacks and Dolyak Signet for knock-down) Practise, practice and practice and enjoy your loot

Great, thanks Witte, I was hoping someone like you would post, not that everyone else hasn't been a help, but I have seen your builds posted and man your good..

Like I said, my problem now is I can't find a decent spot in prophecies that hasn't been nerfed, or over-farmed by other players and drops crap now..

I'm thinking of looking for a build for a warrior in witman's folly, for the grawl, and already have something in mind... I have been wanting to farm grawl for some time now, and I think I know how..

speaking of which, I have been trying for a little while now to make a build for the grawl, and I used a sword-based build with the ripostes in it, no luck.. I killed one grawl and got the others damaged, but i took too much damage between the grawl and the grawl crone...

I'm trying to make up an axe build, one with Triple Chop in it, this is what I have so far...
Healing signet, dolyak signet, triple chop, cyclone axe, executioners strike.

Any tips?? I dont have any places in NF on my warrior,, and up to nahpui quarter in factions, got everything in prophecies..

Well, if you're doing enough damage, but survivability is the issue... you need added defense, or more healing, Perhaps an ele secondary would be suitable for the defensive skills. Look at the armor buffs under Water and Earth.

True, didn't think about the earth magic, I thought about going W/e for Aftershock, earthquake, and stuff like that but I can't sacrafice my energy due to exhaustion...

Also just make a "Rough Copy" and try it out. If it doesn't work then make changes.

I tried out a sword build, like i said, too much dmg intake.

earthquake = KD, then aftershock, and if i needed i could use heal sig when they were down on the ground..

or bring a skill that affects a foe if they are knocked down..

You might also want to try using tool GWfreaks tool to help organize and visualize thr build. All the skills are there for you to examine although the recent updates have not yet been included in a patch.

As stated by others, examine the area you're facing, then come up with counters, and ways of surviving there. If facing most melee mobs, use some armor boosting skills (Dolyak Signet, Watch Yourself!), to lower their damage output. Ect. Ect. Ect.

I think a main problem is the crones, because them wanding me constantly really adds up...

just try something like HH then, and use physical resistance possibly bring ur str up so that u can use doylak all the time (it really helps to have it up constantly) or use a paragon and use shouts to raise defense, while keeping up balanced stanced/doylak i dont know try random weird combos also try using full knights

dont think ur wep has to be 16, maybe just the req of the wep and use the points to spread the love

Hotman, HH won't work due to the Crones using Chilblains. Follow Witte's Instructions and have fun

Well I would do that hotman, but like realm said the crones use chilblains... and your asking me to be a w/mo/me
