As you all know the value of gold is way, way down. I remember when 5k was alot of money. Now if u dont have like 100k your poor. Personally i think something needs to be done about this.

I did have one idea...Maybe Guild WArs should take away money drops for a while, that way people will not have a source of income. And people will learn to make do with what they have.

any1 have any other ideas?

right.

i have heard some ideas that were just plain........ .........but this hits a new low (or high)

all the new people getting their gold drops cut off while the rich simply wait until the poor people salvage/sell enough to buy what they have to sell.

total idio.............

Could you imagine buying this game as a new player and never getting money drops. Whats good for the goose is not good for the gander.

I'll sell you a Gander if you'll take one of these crappy green hammers of my hands! :P This idea is one of the craziest I've ever seen. Just because I've EARNED my 400k I should be punished for it? LMFAO

The economy is just fine as it is. You can, in fact, get some of the best possible gear in the game without spending a single gold coin. Collectors are your friends!

very true- collector items (once modded) are often better than greens and most rare drops. and they are much easier to get. ive got plenty of gold, but many of my characters still use collector weapons. you dont need to be rich to be effective, although i wont deny it helps to have sup vigor and absorption.

its perfectly natural that with continuing game play and more people starting, the amount of gold in the economy increases, and will continue to increase indefinately. is it "fair" that people who play more or solo farm difficult spots tend to end up with more gold and better items to sell for even MORE gold? i think so- theyre putting the time and effort in so why not? you arent FORCED to spend gold in any way other than opening your storage account the first time (and you dont even have to do that). yes, its silly not to spend on ID kits, salvage kits, and upgrading armor as you progress, but again, its not mandatory. normal game play will net you enough gold to buy any of those, and youre sure to find at least a decent weapon as well.

what people are paying high amounts for is "perfection." they want the max weapons, the coolest looking armor, etc, etc. and there are a lot of people out there that want it, so again its natural to see with more demand and a steady infux of gold, prices for the "perfect" items will continually rise.

taking away gold drops isnt the answer. yes, it would spike the market for a while, but as someone already posted, it would be incredibly unfair to new/newer players. more "high end" gold sinks is what is needed to leech the market. there are already several out there- 15k/fissure armor, dye, and UW and FoW entry fees (only 1k a pop, but think of how many times its used) to name a few. once that gold is spent, its gone for good. im sure chapter 2 will add new sinks as well. if chap 2 added an armorer that charges 100k per piece, id stake my next paycheck that tons of people would flock to it. and that, of course, is their prerogative.

anyway, thats my 2 cents.

Basically nothing has changed 5k is still a lot to new players and not much to people who have been on for a while, it's just the natural progression of the game, theres no need to try to change it.

LOL! People aren't making their money of of money drops. Clearing SF with henchmen will make you a lousy average 1.5k in money drops. Selling all the items picked up will easily get you 6k, and if you get a nice green up to 100k.

This is a pretty bad suggestion...

Haha.. that is a pretty drastic measure...

I think the gold issue in GW should be address.. but NEVER take the gold drop out. I've posted several ideas that might help with such issue.. such as making New player easier get gold... reduce gold drop but replace with exchanible goods, and adding more gold sink.

And yeah.. I remember in the good old days when you have 5k, you are consider a Rich Bastar..... good old days...

1. as the above poster said, the money issue needs to be addressed.
2. a creative idea, but probably too extreme.
3. to KANE OG: for the love of God, try writing an intelligent response, I was annoyed beyond reason for simply READING those posts.

I havnt been playing for awhile.
Now that Im back. Everything has change. Taking away gold drops
is retarded. I was tryin to buy a bow. I guess the max dmg with up.
And everyone who pmed me about a bow they have for sale. Was way
over priced. The price range went from 300k to 600k. I was only lookin
to buy a clean max dmg bow. Nuthin fancy.
So what GW should do is either make it easy to get gold. So players like
me. Can buy a weapon or somethin useful. Or drop the value on the weapons,items..etc.

the GW staff does not control the price of things between players, thats all on us, so if you want prices to drop form a huge cult refusing to pay the insane amounts of cash for stuff. Also clean, max dam stuff, other than collector stuff, is expensive; get used to it.

I agree with actionjack, the economy needs to be addressed. Sinks would be good, but maybe a tax on trades between players could also work. Somthing Like 5% of cash exchanged between players would "go to the goverment of Tyria" this could also incourage a barter system, which is better than any other economic system.

oh yeah and no gold drops=bad, would not change the economy much. Other than less people would play, causing puchase prices to go down, causing me to have to pay to play, causing me to kill you for being the one to suggest no gold drops.

The only thing you can do is pull money out of the pockets of people that have too much gold. If 90% of players have less than 20k, and the rest have usually either barely above that or a huge amount more, more around 100k-900k (much like real life) then the only thing you can do is tax the higher brackets because they aren't returning the money back into circulation, or create accessible items that have extremely high costs. The problem with the latter is that then everyone wants them, and you're just encouraging more hoarding.

Unlike real life, if you tax high brackets, a player can create a mule account to seperate their income so they can circumvent their own wealth.

High income players get most of their money from players with intermediate wealth or, less often, very high amounts of wealth. So, merchant deals rarely come into play. Ironically, merchants in this game do NOT offer the best deals. Instead, they offer the worst deals in the game, and are simply more accessible.

So, the only way to equalize things is to invest in even more inflation, which will eventually only create more problems. Or, to alter the way people make income, or lower the capacity level for gold, or make wealth transitive automatically to items or world-invested wealth.

Storage house banks are one option. Wealth in incriments of 20k can be invested within storage banks, which garners interest in rare items of your choice. The more you invest the faster these items are "created." The wealth you invest in these banks is returned back into the economy via bank discounts at merchants, giving bank members far cheaper prices on unrare items as long as they have low investments.

Prices become transitive, all items becoming cheaper the more poor you are while the more you invest, the more wealth you gain back in the form of items that are only good for returning to the economy or for trading.

However, it is also possible that eventually the price of rare items will be driven down as investments in their creation will become easier, making investments in banks relatively worthless. But, if you consistently reset the base price value of these items based on their circulation rather than their trade value, then the price will keep getting pushed up in the bank house as they become more common, requiring players that have previously invested in them to invest even more than before.

So, abuse isn't possible, in theory. The poor (that have at least 20k) can invest in the same rare items high income players can, and can also buy normal items at merchants for player-equal prices, and sell them for higher prices, while high-income players eventually will run themselves dry if they persist in trying to drive prices down using their own wealth. In the end, the system will accumulate gold in returns, and people with high end wealth that are not investing will find their wealth relatively useless as investors' income evens out and items become more accessible.

you must have like 1k in your storage and i KNOW that you complain about those lvl 1 players that have citadel armor on. I seriously hate people like you that complain about almost anything they dont have. "sigh, i dont have a godly gold weapon, maybe i should petition to nerf gold weapons! prople will agree with me!"... "sigh, i dont have gold. i know! lets nerf gold cause i dont have any!!" -shut the hell up
