type: pvp thumper (set for AB)
[card]Hammer Bash[/card][card]Crushing Blow[/card][card]Irresistible Blow[/card][card]"Go for the Eyes!"[/card][card]awe[/card][card]Focused Anger[/card][card]Aggressive Refrain[/card][card]leader's comfort[/card]
attributes:
leadership 10+1+2
command 8+2
hammmer 12
the purpose of this build is similar to the R/w thumpers you see running around....
weaknesses: no snare or increased speed... so you must rely on allies for that...and of course the normal melee problems (blind cripple.. etc)
usage: start out with a sheild and spear...gain a bit of adrenaline... when your ready... pick target and switch to hammer... and pound away.... keep spammin gfte and hammer bash
variations: you can replace irresistable blow or leaders comfort for [card]rush[/card]
~benefits of being para primary:
1. the skill awe...
2. the ability to spam knock downs like no other primary (increased attack speed+focused anger+bash= mayhem)
3. higher base armour than ranger
4. because they look so funny when swingin melee weapons
Thump and AWE

beastial mauling is definitly 'not' better than awe.. pet attacks are unreliable at best... especially when it relies on kd foe...

this build is not about dps as much as it is about disrupting the target... you can defintely spam bash much more frequently....and awe is always there when you need to use it...
agressive refrain is easy to keep up when spamming gfte as well

Give up deep wound and an unconditional hammer knockdown for no deep wound and a conditional hammer knockdown? That's a horrible idea. Heavy blow does far less damage than crushing blow by the way....
I tried this build, wasn't that great. I tried it vs. master of axes and master of hammers, I lost fast. A DB warrior can easily take out both of them. I only approve build that can take out at least one of them. If you don't know what a DB is it uses those combo skills [card]Steady Stance[/card][card]Desperation Blow[/card][card]Drunken Blow[/card] Its called DB becuase "D"runken "B"low and "D"esperation "B"low has DB. It depends on the foe you fight this build could be good.

as I said, it is set for AB... not 1v1
the DB build is good...but it doesnt accomplish the disrupts that this one does

Oh my bad, misread there. :x
Thought both skills inflicted deep wound, but Heavy Blow does inflict more dmg.
Heavy blow (12 hammer) +24 dmg
Crushing blow (12 hammer) +16 dmg
It's only a difference of +8 dmg but.. ^_^
EDIT:
Energy management is kinda bad.

I'm new to the thumper build idea. I guess the only thing I see as a real issue is trying to pack GFTE with the primary skill that you are using leeching all your adrenaline. I'm not saying it doesn't work, it just confuses me. That's the only reason I see benefits to the Heavy and Crushing blow (in fact I was going to suggest it).
I know the importance of Focused anger for adrenal purposes but it hardly matters if you use it everytime you use your primary attack skill. Is there a way to use Earth Shaker and side step the adrenal loss?
Maybe...
[skill]Earth Shaker[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Irresistible Blow[/skill][skill]"Go For The Eyes!"[/skill][skill]Awe[/skill][skill]"Make Your Time!"[/skill][skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill]Rush[/skill]
I dunno... That's a really rough idea... like I said I'm new to the thumper thing.

I hope the ^_^ means deep wound.

It's actually not that bad, you just have to watch your pet's current target and make sure he's on yours, plus 12 bm provides a lot of additional DPS.

Earth Shaker also costs adrenaline, but it is pretty fun. Custo is the only person I've seen use it really well though. Make your time! seems a lot better than Focused anger, though. Especially since you already have the adrenaline machine that is Agressive refrain. Plus, you could run the same bar and run incoming, which is fun on a melee guy in the way imbue health is. |
