I'm saving for the fow warrior helm. Don't plan on getting the full set, just the helm, since I like it the most. I've bought the 15 shards and so far 8 ecto from the the rare material trader. So I'm slowly accumulating what I need. When I do get it, I'll be relieved and satisfied that after a year of playing on my warrior, I finally got myself a piece of fow.
Ectos need to be reviewed

Gaww... Looks like we have an economist and a foreign policy expert playing Guild wars.
If anyone cares:
Before World War I, the world economy operated on a gold standard, Nations attempted to revive the gold standard following World War I, but it collapsed entirely during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Following the success of WW 2 The United States provideed foreign aid to many countries throughout the world. Granted the U.S. foreign aid budget in 1998 was almost 50 percent less than it had been in 1946 the economy was nealry 100 times stronger.
Also by the year 2000 the ameircan dollar was no longer worth the most (campared to the pound or the Euro) but because of the stabality of the Ameircan nation and the American economy you would be hard pressed to find a nation that would not accept U.S currency, especially in nations that were given aid.
Phew... sorry about that, ignorance gets me all rawled up like that.
as for the ecto, I think its fine the way it is as many have already posted

The price of Globs of Ectoplasms is determined by the Rare Material Traders, who determine their prices based on the ratio of the number of Globs of Ectoplasms sold to them against the number of Globs of Ectoplasms purchased from them. The price is not determined by the buyer (unlike with greens).

Ecto...the topic creator is 100% correct in stating that the price of ecto is due to its role as a money substitute. Take it to the extent that the GW economy all runs around the price of ecto.
Changing this now would be a very very bad idea and would play havoc with the game, would completly de-stabilise the ingame economy.
Whether or not topic creator is correct you couldn't ever change how it is, its too late.
my opinion? ecto price shouldnt be detirmined by the fact its used in trade. and i dont believe 105 ecto 105 shards is very fair or logical for Fow armour. I personally hate how the FoW armours look, and ive had the money in the past to buy FoW various times. But the GW economy matters more than whether something is logical or fair. (is capitalism fair?? is it heck) I exercise my right to not ever buy FoW armour becuase it looks worse than 1.5k armour

Don't salvage your Imperial any time soon.

Look at gas prices, the companies set those prices, we're all angry about it, they just keep going up and up. Let's see, we, the buyers, didn't set those prices.
Now look at ectos, let's say you see 12 people selling ectos for 8k each. Offer all 12 people 7.5k each and they're going to laugh at you because they know they can get 8k. Gg, yet again the sellers set the standard.
That wasn't my point, though. What I was getting at was that if Anet set the prices for ectos they would screw up the player-made economy, whether it's the sellers or the buyers deciding the prices doesn't matter.

hmm.... I can see were the thread starter is coming from, but I think they're just fine as they are considering people still buy fow armor and still use them for trade (And people still bitch about them).
P.S. As for the thread title "rethinked" should be rethought. But looking at the post, it seems as though he/she's not a fluent english speaker.
