So, I heard a good bit about the game and there's 3 campaigns right? So I chose Factions since it seemed more PvP. But it wont let me play. I purchased GuildWars factions Collector's edition
for $70.00 from EB Games, install it it took the access key I created an account and when I log on it says your account is not currently authorized and I can't play the game.....it says I need to buy a campaign.

HELP!

You can only create characters in Cantha, if you only own Factions.

Ok, well how do I get into Cantha? I don't see a change continent option.

Using the "Search" function, I found quite a few threads on this problem. None of the advice given by forum members seems to help.

All you can do is contact support at http://www.plaync.com/us/support/prod_48.html

Yeah I did that already. But what it seems to be is that I'm not in the right continent for my appropriate campaign. So how do I do that. How do you guys get to the 3 different ones. Can't I do the same to get into Cantha.

When you are attempting to log in...is that when it says you must purchase a campaign?? Of have you gotten past login?

If it is the case of the first question then it seems it is simply a case of properly registering your CD Key for the Factions campaign. At this point, if you HAVE already done this then, yes, the last thing you can do is contact PlayNC Support. Once you go to this website; http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...e=myq_ilp.php; you can choose to create an account, or not and simply submit a question straight away to them...

Hopefully, you won't have to bring it that far... Here are some other links to read through to make sure you have done everything properly.

GW Account Creation:: http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...&p_t opview=1

GW CD Key Additions:: http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...&p_t opview=1

I hope that helps, please don't hesitate to PM me with further questions or send PlayNC Support a help ticket. I always enjoy helping new players get into the gorgeous game that is Guild Wars. I'll see ya in game!

Cheers!

P.S. If you HAVE gotten past the login point, when you create an RP character you should only have the option to create a Canthan character... So i am pretty certain that it has nothing to do with the "wrong continent". If it still says "You must purchase a campaign", then it has something to do with improper game install, or improper registry of your game CD Key... Just a bit more tah think about...

Are you able to create a character? If so, are you choosing Prophecies or Nightfall? If so, that's the problem.

No, I get to the screen after login and I see the 4 character creation slots. But it will not allow me to create or play the game, the buttons are grayed in, and there's a red box in the middle of the screen saying that I am not authorized to play the game because I haven't bought a campaign yet. Which I have... I bought Factions... and gave it the key... this makes no sense.

Hmm. I have no frikkin clue. In the login screen for the client there should be a link that says "Create account or add access key," and you've clicked on that and created your account, right? Or you have account created already?

If you do have a user email and password, strill try clicking that link and adding factions on.

Hmm next thing I'd check is to see if it took the CD Key..go back to the login screen and choose the Add/Manage CD Keys screen, it should ask for the login, after you do that what does it say?

It did take the key, I made sure of that. I'm reinstalling now and trying again. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.

Just to make sure.

Where did you buy the key? Was it a box from the store, or the PlayNC online store?

Alright, so I did the reinstall... Same problem. It's almost like there is a problem with the key. I entered it in and saw it take it, but when I go into edit account, manage access Keys, there is still nothing there, not even Factions. So, I entered my key in again, thinking maybe I was just imagining the game taking it. But the key is now invalid, so it had to.. yep I'm screwed. PlayNC better hurry up.

It's the GW Factions collectors edition. Got it in the EB games store at the mall.

If it was a used copy, then the key won't work since it's already assigned to someone's account. If it was a new copy, I'd take it back to EBGames, explain the problem, and get another copy.

Yeah, it was brand new. Too bad I got it when I went to NJ for the holidays. I live in SC.

Did you type the key in correctly? I suspect it's doing that because you might have mistyped a single character in the code. Maybe typed a zero instead of an O, for example. It's showing you the X because there is no key attached to the account. So the key apparently didn't take.

That's what I was thinking as well. I've done that before, simple misread of the key code itself. It's not hard to do.

I must of looked over the key a thousand times, I don't see how.
