how is everyone getting a wintersday hat gonna make the economy break down. i know its a example sorta thing. But its still a hat that we cant even sell. So, Yes I think keeping people happy on this one thing is worth it.

Kaleban is being sarcastic. I least I hope he is. He's mocking actualy people who think items should be an elite status and the same people who think that if everyone gets things easily then the economy will be destroyed and the game ruined.

I think it would help some people if they could afk without fear of the server disconnecting them in order to get their hats. I haven't noticed a problem in cities (only outside cities where it seems to happen, except at the boardwalk). I don't think I've ever seen it happen in under a few hours so I think they could still afk at least one if they are going to be leaving that day. if not, is it possible to allow afk'ers not to get the boot in order to do this stuff? As for me, I'll be there, switching out characters :-)

Last year one of the good ideas people had was to arrange for Grenth and Dwayna Districts and put the dist numbers on here so people could choose. That way everyone ended up with both sets or the hat they wanted.

Even numbered dists could be Dwayna, Odd Grenth?

That assumes that the hat is earned by collecting a given item, in the case of Halloween and Wintersday, this is not the case, you don't have to collect an item to get the headgear.

I believe it was the reverse last time. But you're right, getting that sorted in advance would help a lot!

Do you really spend the whole 24 hours celebrating? Didn't think so...I'm sure you can take 5 minutes to stop by and pick up a hat or even two. Not a big deal.

K, lemme get this straight. The hat event is happening on January 1st right? Isn't that a full 24 hours after New Years Eve? So, say the average person goes off to a new years party at around 8pm on December 31st. Gets hammered and passes out by about 3am. Said person wakes up roughly 6-8 hours later (roughly by noon on January 1st). Wouldn't that leave several hours in which to get a hat? I mean if, like a few of the posters above, you're going to be too wasted to get a hat, there is something you can do. It's called Alcholics Anonymous.

For all those people worried about being so drunk they'll miss getting a hat, just plonk a traffic cone on your head when you stagger home like most drunkard idiots do, and for "Elite" status, get one with a flashing light

and why do u people right away assume that i will be drunk (or high)? i just have big plans thats all
my point is not that i wont have the time to log on gw (cuz i wont and whatever), my point is that it should be like haloween when u had at least few days to get it, cuz im sure im not the only one who will not have gw on my mind jan 1st.

it shouldn't be a problem getting a hat for european and asian based players since events tend to be based on PST time, meaning the event doesn't start till around 8am GMT and will actually end around 8am GMT 2nd January.

it'll just be a problem for american based players who partied too hard, and naturally for those who are abroad or away from a computer.

it would be a nice idea if anet allowed the yule cap and grenths antlers (if infact they are the same headgear as last year) to not be customized until equip. so aslong as it stays in inventory, you COULD trade it, for free/money. doubt such logic could be implimented though.
