We probably all know that the new Wintersday event starts on december 20th...

Quote:
Wintersday 2006 — Special in-game events have become fan favorites the world over, and during this holiday season Guild Wars players will be in for another Wintersday Festival! During this event, players will find favorite outposts dressed to the nines with holiday décor, as they are invited to complete holiday-themed quests, participate in PvP snowball fights, and receive unique holiday rewards such as Winter Gifts, a Snowman Summoner, Eggnog, and Candy Canes. Wintersday 2006 will take place in-game December 20, 2006 through January 1, 2007.
However today i noticed that my Candy Canes are renamed to Peppermint Candy Canes...

Maybe i should visit a doctor but a little voice inside my head says that the new Wintersday event will bring a new type of Candy Canes

What do you think??

Might be true. Why else would they rename the old ones
btw: Last December 20th they added the Icy Dragon Sword.
How about an Icy Gladius this year?

Pure Speculation at the moment. At the end of the day they are in fact Peppermint Candy, so I guess the updated the item name. I wouldn't think much of it till Wintersday comes along.

If they don't remove DP this year, I'll be horribly disappointed.

Don't know, don't really care. No point speculating.

I noticed the re-name too. If candy canes were changed to something else, than it would make those from last year even more valuable - Problem is I'm almost out of them

Maybe the candy canes this year would be spearment or wintergreen.

Maybe this years cc's will only remove 15% of dp per cc.

Maybe this year's candy canes will remove the death penalty for the whole party. I've often wished I could give them to the henchies.

I dunno...what does peppermint usually do?

I think they will simply be green instead of red.

I agree. Hard to say for sure until the 20th.

On an optimistic note, what the game used to call "Precious" is now called "Improved Sale Value" ... and it means the exact same thing in terms of functionality.

Maybe they're just updating the name so the players new since last year won't be so easily confused about the difference between the CC weapons and the dp-removal treats.

I looked at my CC stack tonight, and the existing ones from last year have changed names, too. I didn't test one, can't bear to fritter them away, but this is a ss of my cc stack as of tonight, Dec 14, 2006. They did used to be called, simply, "Candy Canes."

According to the description (also new,) it sounds like they're the same ones from last year ... just better labeling.

Cheers folks,
Luny
