uggh, sunspear general

Got to the mainland recently, just saved Koss (and capped Barrage, woohoo!), now it's telling me I need Sunspear General to progress any further. I'm nearly 1,000 pts out. I didn't put much emphasis on farming points early on cause I thought it was pointless. I'll farm for greens or crafting mats for hours... but sunspear points? Meh.

What's a good place to farm points on the mainland? I don't have much of it open.

Very first explorable area on the mainland, just talk to the priests and clear the area. One trip should put you over the top.

I found that by always getting the bounty when I walked past a shrine, I made it past General in no time at all.

Just kill the insects in Coast a few times :\ I dont see the problem people have...

Go to Marga Coast. Get ALL Hunts activated. Kill everything. You will have Sunspear General in about 30-45 minutes.

Farm Sunspear Points and quest at the same time.

Getting to sunspear general isnt a problem at all, you either:

1)Take blessing from scouts everytime you explore, they are just outside each portal, dont be lazy. If you are, dont play.
2)Do some of the quest that gives you 100SSP each + (1)
3)Do (1) and go farm for greens in the area.

Any of the above actions will net you over 2500 SSP for general and i got over 7000 points doing (3) and i didnt even borther looking at the rank.

The worse possible thing you can do is in fact to farm SSP early in the game since you only get peanuts for points and am wasting your time, you just need 300 points to get both 15 point attributes and continue with the storyline. Dont borther farming SSP until you reach the mainland, then again we are telling you its not a chore at all if you look at it/do things differently.

Ya, getting to Sunspear General rank is almost a passive activity when you always obtain a bounty/blessing from those shrines.

... now what's really gonna get ya, is the fact that you have to do this for EVERY character you have.

If you have already fought your way up to Gates of Desolation you can leave their from the south entrance and pick up the kournan bounty and get it in a few runs. Not to mention some LB points as well.

I just made to general by doing all the side quests

what i did was start any quest i can do and anytime i run by a priest i start asking for bounty and keep doing it over and over. each quest gives about 100 points and bounty in kourna gives +4 for each kill.

can be done in 20 minutes outside the first mainland town

exit yahlon haven east get bug hunt.. squish em all in under 3 minutes. rinse and repeat. 30 mins 1000 points.

Thanks all! Was able to do a mix of clearing explorables and doing quests. Noticed the Elona quests were 100+ sunspear points so I just cleared areas on the way to those and was General within about 30 mins.

I was sunspear commander (6) before getting the consulate dock mission just from taking the bounty at every res portal and clearing every map I entered. I did not have to farm once. Plus the rewards from doing every quest helped as well. By the time I got to the point where I needed to free Koss and become General I only needed about 700 points. I forget the area... but take the bounty for Heket. Those guys are in large groups but a piece of cake to kill. I was General within before I knew it.

I am a general on my ranger,first spear on my lvl 9 Paragon, and a commander on my Dervish since lvl 12.

Just always take the bounties,and avoid some groups until you get the bounty for them. It doesn't take you farming specifically for Sunspear points to be a general.

I always took bounties, I just was very quest-based and didn't go out of the way to kill anything that wasn't directly in my path. But I didn't avoid aggro range of anything that was close to my path, either. But it looks like it'll be a lot easier to get sunspear points now, with the higher rewards per quest, more blessings on Kourna, a LOT more mobs on Kourna, and more than 1 sunspear point per kill.

Do you need to gain more ranks to progress in the story later? Just so I know to go out of my way to kill stuff once in a while so I don't get stuck like I did yesterday. Isn't the next rank something insane like 10k points?

to get to castellan, which is rank 8, you need 7500 sunspear points
