Chapter 4 isn't very far along... or something fishy is going on.

So, I was digging around looking for a possible lead to the name of the next chapter of Guild Wars, and I came up with NOTHING. I knew about Nightfall 3 weeks after Factions released, the name at least. It is strange how ANet/NC Soft have not decided on a name yet. I find that disturbing, since, they said a new chapter every 6 months. Maybe that 6 month promise isn't in order this time around? If anyone else can dig up anything on this, post it here. All I have so far is this:

That is all I can find on Guild Wars, unless they are hiding it somehow.... I will keep searching. I am sure they should have the name picked out if the development period is only 6 months. They only have 5 left...

PS: I have tried Library of Congress and the Copyrights, I couldn't find anything on NC Soft, Arenanet, or Guild Wars... so that is a dead end.

Only patent system is finding matches. Nightfall's name was DIRECTLY issued from Korea, not from Jeff Strain, meaning NC Soft has an iron grip on Arena Net, at least by the looks of it.

Maybe they have decided not to register the trademark so early after the previous lessons...

Maybe Gaile and the lot of them are busy shredding financial records and grinding hard drives to dust...

Who knows?

Just because NF was named 3 weeks after Factions was released doesn't mean it'll be the same for Ch4.

LOL. That is one theory. But, if they don't register the trademark early, they could have an internal leak, and some other company could copyright the name.... It happened with Half Life 2. That is why its Half Life (Squared) not 2. That, and a lot of their info leaked.

Hmm, your evidence strongly suggests indeed that Arenanet is doing a poor job on CH4 and since nothing is registered, they probably haven't even started working on it! The name, of course, is the most essential part to a game, and clearly nothing can be accomplsihed without it.

Well, why can't they just you know, develop the game, and then decide on the trademark at the end?

Do you even see the word "Nightfall" or "Factions" in the game uttered by any NPC? I only see it in the toon creation screen, the login screen, and the skill trainers IRRC.

Yeah I was pretty much going to put something similar to Madonion, but he did such a good job of it.... guess I'll just troll on this one.

Actually I see alot of NPC's talking about Nightfall, Varesh does numerous times....

The theme of the game is based around the name. When designing a game, programmers use the name as a unifying center.

Example: Factions: two different factions in a bloody war against each other struggling for survival.

Nightfall: Nightfall coming, Abbadon, Varesh trying to bring Nightfall to the lands.

@ Generik: Hmm, if I remember correctly, in teh cutscenes, the word "Nightfall" was used A BAZILLION times. Could have just been me though.

But you see, Nightfall as mentioned in the game points to an event that happens in the story line.

Anet can very well name it Guild Wars: The dark continent for all we know. It does not impact the game in any nor story in any way.

But The Dark Continent would still be a name focused on the story line. They generally create the storyline around the name. So it worries me to not see a name yet, because that means they may not even have a concept of the story line. I just hope it isn't as hurried as factions was, and the story line isnt utter crap (it is the factions team that is going this next version).

I mean crap, they could call it Guild Wars: 4. They don't need a name until just before release if they don't want. It might be a case that they are going to wait for a couple months before they release that it will be called Guild Wars: The Hunt for Something Evil

Yey speculation topic. Honestly though, I might end up skipping every even-numbered chapter if they all feel rushed like Factions. :s

It's Factions developing team turn this time..it doesn't surprise me

What Anet will probably do is make every even numbered chapter rushed and every odd number chapter unreplayable

Ugh, thanks for reminding me. It'll probably be another half assed story focused on PvP, but badly at that so PvEers have to/can get into the action.

wow....so someone leaked the name of the sequel to Half Life.......and it was named Half Life 2? Damn.....who saw that coming?

And regarding Half Life 2. Yes, it was a big deal. But it worked out for the better. But having their stuff leaked was pretty bad.

What if anet didn't think up a new name yet?
