Hello,

I'm a bit confused about the armor crafter in FoW, and the new Elonian armor sets. First of all, does anyone know if its possible to buy basic Elonian armor from the FoW? (without any stat bonuses) and if it is possible, what is the benefit to this type of armor over, gladiator or ascalon armor for instance? Also is it possible to switch insignias on FoW armor (swap energy+ for -dmg reduction?)

So, if i purchased a set of elonian FoW armor, and modified it to be like glads armor, would it have the same bonuses(+8energy)? and if so could i switch to something else down the road while keeping the armor intact?

If anyone has any up to date pictures of the FoW Armor crafter that would be extremly helpful!

Thanks in advance, Libra.

Yeh Libra, all the FoW armor has been updated I believe. I only have taken my dervish though to get his, so I havent checked other classes. But I do believe all the new FoW is inscribable, meaning you can change insignias, aka armor type. Hope I am correct here.

Hope this helps, :P

Best of Luck, Rahja.

Be careful when you say all fow. Each class now has a base set that can have insignias applied. However, they still have the traditional stat pieces as well, but you can't change the stats by putting insignias on them.

So:
1. If you want fow that you can change the stats just by buying new insignias buy the Obisian x armor. This will cost you more in the long run as statless armor is not any cheaper than those pieces with stats. So you will need to pay the price of insignias as well, but you do get the option to swap out in the future without having to buy a new set or new piece.

2. If you know you are going to want one specific type and won't change it, get that particular style (Gladiator's Obsidian X, Virtuoso's Obsidian X, Druid's Obsidian X, etc).

Thanks for the quick replys guys!

I can now confirm, after being to the crafter, that there is infact a basic(elonian) armor for warrrior! I'm going to purchase it asap and post some pictures soon.

I really think its a great idea, sure it costs a little more, but your already spending alot of money on FoW Armor, you might aswell get something you can update with the times.

Regards, Libra.

Now if only they did this for Tyrian armour. I want a reason to use my Drakescale other than for kicks because it looks good.

Remember though that if you want to change insignias you should probably just overwrite the old insignia since there is a chance to destroy the armor if you try to remove the old insignia first. This means a good chunk of change everytime you want to switch your build around. Seems like it would be cheaper to just get the set of fow that you will use the most and then grab a cheap set for a specific build.

I was under the impression that removing insignias from armor was 100%. Is this wrong? Has anybody had their armor destroyed while removing an insignia? :P

you get what you are trying to salvage 100% but the armor may or may not be destroyed. Upgrading nf armor from noobie armor to higher level I lost about half. You have to pick the most valuable thing first (ie insignia or rune) then hope you can get the other one and then if you still have armor after both salvages you can go for the materials. Only hero armor can't be destroyed so you get unlimited 100% salvages from that.

I have Hydromancer FoW that I would LOVE to change. I just don't want to shell out for a full new set of it.

What crafting materials are needed for the inscriptable armors?

Now if only you could salvage runes/insignia off of armors without destroying the piece. (Yes I know there's a chance of not destroying it 50% + any percentages from titles but FoW armor is expensive enough already)

I suggest Anet to update existing FoW armor to be able to put inscriptions on it like NF armors, since FoW armor is not chapter specific but available to all chapters.
