High prices on new skinned weapons

Heeya people,

I have a question, obviously, why would I start a new thread otherwise?
My question is about the new skinned weapons: "When do you people reckon the prices on these so called rare skins (how do people know they are already rare after just 2 weeks :S) will drop?"

I see elemental swords go for 100k+50 ecto's.. I mean, I like the skin, but 100k+50 ecto's seems like waaaaaaaaaaaay to much to me
Dead swords, same story..
Blade axes, same story
Collosal scimitar, haven't even seen those for sale yet.. sigh..
And all of these are just warrior weapons..

I want some of these weapons, but since my cashflow is limited, I cannot afford all of them.. Maybe I should be patient and wait how things unfold in the future, but does anyone have a guess on how long these rediculous high prices will remain??

Prices tend to vary from class to class, mesmer items drop fairly quickly as it's one of the least favorite proffesions, warrior,monk,necro and ele stuff tends to stay high for longer as they are the most played proffesions.

There will be a slight dip on even the most highly sought after items after a month or so just because of the influx of more items on the market.

In short, don't spend any large amounts of cash for the next month or so.

A quick example..I know someone who paid 700k for a req8 shadowblade when they went live, this sword dropped into the 200k region within a few weeks..

Besides, inscriptions will help on keeping their value down to a "non existant" level. I doubt any Nightfall Item will stay above the 100 Plat Mark for that simple reason.

With the possibility of one exception, any extremely rare skins.

Desolation Swords are they rare? I have only seen one drop ever in my Elonian time.

Too early to tell if anything is extremely rare, I highly doubt anything will be though. Elemental swords are sought after for the moment but even interest in them will die out to a degree after a month or so.

So far i've not found a single weapon skin which i've not found atleast 5 times again. I think the elemental sword could be slightly rare but there are allready too many people wielding one so this won't be an ultra rare item either.

The desolation sword by the way is very common, if you explore the area you probably end with around 3-4 per instance.

I think Elonian wepons will come down to the popularity of the skin vs its actual rarity. Low req, sought after skins will maintain some sense of value, while less desired skins will drop rapidly.

When people say "elemental swords" what are they talking about?

I've had at least 5 fiery gladii (or is it gladiuses) drop for my Rit as I've gone through Elona. In fact I've had a hard time figuring out whether to store/salvage/sell them.

For now, I've been able to put them on my other characters heroes that haven't made it very deeply into Elona. My ranger's level 2 Koss is so cute with his fiery gladius and Merki's Gaze.

Shiney weapons are always extortionate in the beginning. FDS for Prophecies, Golden Phoenix Blade/Zodiacs for Factions and new Elemental and Fiery Axes, Gladiuses (or is it Gladii MelechRic?!!?).

There's a new game patch due between now and Christmas which opens up an Elite area which will have enough sundering shiney weapons of leetness to lapse any wammo in to a coma. Elemental Swords will drop in value then.

The sword is called an elemental sword is and somewhat like a combination of a FDS and IDS, but not animated and a very different hilt. Firey gladius appear common. Unless yours are gold, max damage and low req, I would merchant/salvage them, they aren't worth keeping.

Golds dont interest me much anymore, since you can buy all the mods you need, all that matters to me is base req and on staffs the 20% recharge

I really don't see why everybody cares about the elemental sword. I think it's ugly as hell.

I don't think ANYTHING will stay above 100k in Nightfall, let alone the 50-75k range, especially w/ inscriptions. The days of gold meaning anything but a chance for higher mods is gone, especially w/ craftable inscriptionless blues.

That's true...well Varesh vent down really fast, on start people were selling for 100+5 and my firned bought yesterday a varesh for 5k Oo...Gray gaints are a little more rare and is price still on 30k, but im really after a collosal scimitar and elemental sword (really nice skins) only req 4 me is max dmg and inscriable :P colour doesn't matter by t hose 2 skinned swords...

The prices are based on want. The nicer skins will always sell for more as the supply and demand will never balance.

Of course the prices will drop in time. That's obvious.

If you want nice weapons, be lucky, be patient or shell out the bucks. Your OP is pretty pointless. there's nothing ridiculous about prices here, just the market finding it's feet.

Well, in my opinion, if you want the skin find a clean weapon with a req you like and then mod it up. Who cares if the name isn't gold, no body knows it isn't gold when you ctrl+click on the name and it comes up as Zealous Elemental Sword of Fortitude. I normally just mod weapons from weapons that dropped or collector item and I normally get the mods from perfect items I get from chests. Occassionally I get an item that is perfect and is in a cool skin, like a soul spire staff I got, became one of my more favorite weapons .

Tip, wait until things are over farmed to buy them. Never buy them early.
