Individuality between games... if u want to get inscribable armor then Nf is they way, if not then Chapter 1/2, simple enough.

They need to make money too, for continuing to make this game expand or even bring out a Guild Wars II. Mark my words when GW4 is out they'll make it available for every chapter. And bringing up evolution doesn't make you smart, it's just a pointless argument for needing insignias while no-one needed them in the first place. Sorry, but yeah.

My evolution argument is as valid as your argument against the change, some things should change. As anyone who bought knights boots fow before the absorb nerf will agree.

For example, take the stats of the old Rockmolder. The first Rockmolder had a 20% chance to half skill recharge. They then changed this so that for a long time, 2 versions of the Rockmolder co-existed, one with 20%, one with 10%. Then in the 13/7/2006 update, they changed the old Rockmolders to have the same stats as the new ones. They also changed the stats on the Crimson Carapace shield retroactively. So it would be trivial for them to upgrade all armours so that their current stats change to inscribable ones instead. |

You talked about evolution and change and such, but wasn't the so called "nerf" a change too which brought evolvution. The evolution that you needed somewhat more of a brain or needed to think to be a tank, and to wage the pro's and the cons of dmg absorption or not. I'll say it again, it's logic that they added this in Nightfall only.

My argument is clear, obsidian armor "should" be able to accept insignia as it is present in all 3 chapters.
I'd also say that people bought NF more because of new skills and content rather than insignia on armors. I own 2 copies of the game with all 3 chapters + extra accounts slots, Anet have done ok out of me on the money front.

Also you gotta remember that the old boosts on the armor would have to be stripped in someway to allow insignias.

As for me, the situation is at least pathetic: Tyria armor, Cantha armor and Elona armor has got the exactly same stats (in the same class of the armor - ex. final armors - endgame, droks). But only NF armors can have insignias.
Where is the fairplay?

As for why they need it, they don't. But, you don't need dye, weapon skins other than what the collector will give you, hair options, or skin tone selection. You don't need inscriptions or insignias. You don't need an amulet of the mists or a book of secrets. You don't need profession changers. You don't need scrolls, candy canes, dwarven ale, pumpkin heads, dragon masks, or santa hats. Strictly speaking, there is very little you need to play through the game. But having options like these, in my opinion, is a very good thing.
As for why now, because it is possible now. The code is in place for these options in nightfall, so it shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to apply them elsewhere.
Honestly, am I the only one seeing that is the same stuff like Material Storage which was added in Factions and not in Prophecies to make Factions more appealing? And when Nightfall came out, Prophecies got Material Storage too. It's just another WTB factor so they have reasons to buy Nightfall, this is like saying to throw in heroes in Prophecies and Factions right away. I'll bet 10k on it that all armor will be inscribable including before-bought armor when the next chapter will be released.

In most cases (only, as I've seen, good one in NF is ranger armor).
I whole heartedly concur with fixing the lack of consistency and with it add:
1) Could they fix the fact that some like items can not be stacked on others (scrolls frinstance) consuming yet another slot in inventory, which are already in far too short a supply (no arguements about larger inventories lol "consuming "bandwidth", lolo. please)
2) Reinstate the item capacities from Prophecies that were gelded out with the introduction of Factions and NightFall or very quickly afterwards. I have a very broad selection of weapons from all 3 "versions" and it is clearly evident that the 20% recharge/cast bonuses do not work on the older items any more, as well as other attributes on weapons.
3) Stop this insane 'over managing' of the game under the guise of fixing things. Frinstance - they put a whole scad of greens in the Sorrow's Furnace to attract activity only to start making it impossible to reasonably treasure hunt there. (don't need to hear all the arguements about the market [which will always exist], cause who cares except the areanet and ncsoft which want to capitalize in their own way from it].)
4) Bring the designers and grfx artists back and make some realistic cool armor for the monk class instead of these paper dresses. A monk is the renegade of the grp, who may be likened to a drummer in a band, a lonewolf, wildman, or dark element, or retreating spirit. I refuse to upgrade my "skin illlustrations" (thank you Illustrated Man one of the best books and movies ever made - [scifant] Ray Bradbury) despite the fact I can not afix the latest insignias for monks on my skin. Monks should not all be running around in bathrobs, housecoats and leisure wear lounge frocks, smocks,.. what have you.
I am sure leaving insignias out was an ommission to force you to upgrade/purchase the latest version of the game if you wanted more capabilities and you can be sure they will have something very similar in the next release in 2007.
The defections and exodus may start anytime soon due to the insidious "tinkering".
6) One last thing. I am a member of many international technical forums and communities and due to technical expertise, have discovered, to the delight of many, the PR people posing as the public or innocent players. Guild wars and its communities is racked with them. If they would like to have their ppl out there perhaps they should be only offering up suggestions instead of the cold hard canned responses they throw in your face [meant to preclude any reasonable discussion] or the sniping they do for logical well thought out opinions and ideas, like how we dont have to pay for server time in the form of a monthly subscription fee. Or they arent enough resources to do something, or this discussion is too confusing , etc.
There are no simple answers for anything so don't accept a slam answer on you queries else we be moving on. There are many more games on the horizon.

Now tell me if I made sense with these arguments. I think I did.
Personally, I think some people are way too spoiled by Anet.
