Ok get ready for a small rant....*ahem*
As of late ive been noticing people cahrgine droknars runs for 10k, now how did the price jump from 2k to 10k?
The enemy AI has been...improved, nerfing aspects of the runs, but i cant justify paying 10k for a runner.
Now im finding it near impossible to find a runner for my Mesmer.
*end of rant*
Droks Running Ridiculous

Yeah, running is essentially cheating your way through the game. Level 3 characters don't really belong in nearly the end of the game. If you want to do something like that, that's up to you. But it's still cheating your way through the game. So, people tend to pay for cheating, whether it's getting in trouble (ex: tests in schools) or shelling out more virtual money (ex: what you're complaining about.)
Have a nice day.

I can't stand being in Beacon's Perch and watching level 2 characters complaining that people charge too much. What's the point in playing if you're going to skip the actual game? lol...
This post was STARTED by a runner...i run people to droknars regularly, and i dont overcharge, and even since the update nothing has changed for me...
so THANKS for totally flaming me
Ill put it this way, what if petrol prices became 10 bucks a litre? You wouldnt be the SLIGHTEST bit irritated? And not because its a necessity, its because its something you really do need ~ and i need a run to Droks (so i can wear my pretty tyrian armor skins
)
anyways im over it now, time to start doing ALL those missions for the 8th time since i started playing...

If you have factions linked, you can easily get max armour once you reach LA and if you have Nightfall linked, you can get Heros from Kamadan once you reach LA too. These two factors alone makes the Drok run close to being redundant anyways.
You can easily get a run to Santum Cay and map all desert towns and ascend on the same day you create your character and with Heros most tyria missions should be so much easier. Reaching Drok Forge "normally" via the storyline has never been easier since Factions and Nightfall.

If I remember what I read correctly, another thread somewhere mentioned that Droks prices were originally 10-15k. This was when few were attempting it, or even thought to, I suppose. It seems reasonable that the price would return to this when the mountain passages have become totally chaotic/unpredictable. Perhaps some tactics are having to be relearned, almost as if it were a new beginning.
Until new methods are developed that allow for ease of travel once again, I doubt prices will drop. Right now they are simply balancing risks against time, with the risk of a failed run higher until the new tricks are learned.
But thats just my two cents
/edit I'd also have to partially agree with Reikai. You might say the ai change, etc. has seperated the men from the boys, the "okay" runners from the "good" runners from the "awesome" runners. Okay runners can't run anymore, good ones have a lower success rate, awesome adapted instantly and are incredibly confused at other peoples consternation over the changes. I'm none of the above, by the way. :P

Too many people confuse level 2 characters with people that are new to the game. I've got 10 characters, one fairly low level. Now I don't get run to droks because I don't make any more Tyrians. I've played the game(s) through several times, some characters went to LA and took the boat to Kaineng to get their max armour.. It's actually EASIER than getting run to droks and I don't see ppl complaining about that cheating (it's a feature). Once some of you new people play the game through with a few characters and get some salt under your collar you'll realize not all level 2 characters trying to get max armour are new players. There's reasons for building a character fast... readying him for pvp, readying him for just the elite missions , readying a particular class to help out guildies later on, etc etc..
It seems like the new players complain about people being run to places because they haven't gotten to a point where they realize the merits of it.
As for those new players that actually try to get ahead of the game before they've finished it for the first time: well you paid for it, do whatever you want, but I think you'll enjoy playing it through once or twice. If you want the armour and can't afford in-game the drok run, fork out the money for Factions and get your armour as soon as you get to LA.
People like me who have 10 characters have spent too much time in the game, but people that have 10 characters AND played the game(s) through completely (without skipping/running anything) have spent WAY too much time in-game IMHO, but again that's an opinion and to each their own.
Quit crying about Drok run prices. It's player-run. Fork out the money for Factions if you want your armour fast, get a guildie to run, or play through it AGAIN.
Quit crying about people running. Everyone paid for this game and they can play it however the hell they want. If you don't like seeing them in later areas, well take henchies, guildies, or henchies.
Another alternative (which I have done on a character or two) is to get them to LA, go to Cantha and then level up over there with the high-reward quests out of Kaineng. It's really easy, fairly quick, and then you can go back and do Sanctum Cay/Desert Missions if you want a Drok-skinned armour with little difficulty.

I think prophecies characters are mostly going to Kaineng center (assuming they have factions) to get max armor. Most of the people wanting runs now are foreign chars trying to get to the skill caps they need without going through all the desert mission tedium. Most of them probably would pay more than 2k to get there. 10k seems high but it's a runner's market. If they can get 10k then so be it.

@OP, 10-15k was the orginal droks price, when the number of runners went up the price went down, since that has now reversed because the poor-average runners struggle to cope the decent runners can start making money from the run again.

Are there fewer people in Beacon's Perch looking for runners? I'd imagine so, since there's so many people running around Nightfall at the moment. For runners to keep their profit margins up, they need to charge fewer people more money for the run, especially if you can only get 1 or 2 people needing a run at a time. As pointed out above, more people are just hopping over to Cantha from LA to get max armor, so that's a big part of the customer base lsot to the runners. The only customers left are the low level guys who want to get to end-game content is for capping elites to use in Ascalon Arena.
It was inevitable that the price would rise back up.
I have been droks running off and on (when i need cash) since prophecies release. Since those days of droks running, the run had consistently gotten harder with every major update. With these constant additions to make the runs harder, wouldn't one think that runners would start to charge MORE?! In fact the very opposite occured where runs began to DROP in price. Back in their days of 8k-10k costs per head, it has shrunk to the the now commonly know 2k-3k per head. Now tell me, HOW was that justified? In fact, a month before Nightfall release i wanted to do a couple runs to start building my savings again, and what do i find? "Running droks for free, droks running for tips, droks run for 500g and under".... etc etc.
If you, the OP, are truely a runner yourself, then ENJOY this fact, make the cash, and get your mesmer through the old fashion way.
That fact that these prices went up is what was SUPPOSED to happen in the first place. GG community, you FINALLY caught on.
cheers!

Sorry, but I dont find any of those legitimate reasons. Learn the characters fullest potential through use. If you already have a character of that type(new R/E, and you already have an R/E) Id wonder why you made another.
I usually dont complain about it, but WILL say to one of those, if they ask to be in my party, something like, "Gain a few more lvls" or "I dont party with people that are (what I consider to be) too low a level for the area. Like lvl 17 for desert, or 16, and at least 50% to lvl 17.
I dont think 10 characters means too much time. Hell, we shouldve had 6 character slots, not 4, when Prophecies came out, so you could have a primary in every class, but that didnt happen. Ive just gotten another character slot(as a temp mule until I get Factions), which makes 5, and Ive played the other 4 all the way through the game. Im also going to play this newest on all the way through, as I will with any other character I may get in the future. I cant understand how, if you dont enjoy the game enough to play it through again, why youd make another character, unless youre using them as a mule.
Why? WHY is it almost always called "crying", when people complain about something like this. Hell, we could just as easily say youre(not you specifically, but those sharing your view)are crying to keep running in. Im not saying it should be made impossible in any of the games out now(Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall), but SHOULD be impossible in the future. Running, to me, just smacks of cheapness.
