There's a new scam going around in the Kodash Bazaar about the Trade Contracts (and as you all know, I've been in the Kodash Bazaar too long. )

7 Trade Contracts, given from quests in Vabbi, can be traded to a Vabbi Trade Official for a Ruby/Sapphire/Diamond, which are necessary for the 5k Vabbi armor. (That's why they are 5k at the Rare Material Vendor. Very high demand.)

Not many people know this. Thus, you can see a scam waiting to happen, similar to the Imperial Commedations in Factions.

I've seen many people offer 300g-500g per Trade Contract in Kodash Bazaar. 7 of these contracts amount to 2100g-3500g. Since the Gems can be sold for atleast 5000 each, that's a 1500g-2900g profit for doing nothing.

Therefore, don't sell your Trade Contracts for anything less than 700g. That way, they will break even if they are trying to scam you.

There are lots of quests in Vabbi for Trade Contracts. Turn them in for Gems for your armor, or sell them for 700g. But don't undercut yourself.

honestly, thats not a scam.
thats just people not being aware that theres a price difference. if anyone doesnt bother to check, it is their fault.
that having been said, its always good that someone posts this kind of thing, so that the general public knows not to make the mistake.

Yeah, if you're in there every time I pop in, it's a bit much.

Anyways, this is definitely something that everyone should know about - but there is already a thread here for in-game scams.

Thanks for the info, just made it into Bazaar today and saw people wanting to buy them for 200g. I was going to trade mine in for a Sup Salvage Kit or I might have sold mine. Now I know I can get some gems!

Not a Scam, but I warn people anyway.

Simply playing off people not knowing the worth of these is not "scamming" in that sense, its bad business morally...but noone cares about morals in a game :\

I was wondering why there was a high demand for them.
I've seen people try and make it 500 gold.

I normally just spam WTS trade contracts for 1K each as a bit of a joke, when I see the WTB for 400g. Or I'll go WTB 410g each. Then they might go WTb 420g , then I go WTB 430g, ...etc.

That's not a scam at all imo.

That's kind of like troll tusks used to be. Where you literally just buy them and trade them to collector for a profit without really having to do anything. Not a scam.

I love the people selling "Swamp Flowers" for 100-300g in Kamadan. Oh yeah, because walking right outside the zone from the Astralarium and picking one off the ground in a 2 second trip is a service! /sarcasm

There's scamming, and there's taking advantage of people. This thing, is the latter of the two. It's his/her own fault, they should've check prices...

Same as monastery credits/imperial commendations. Not a scam in any way. People who do only a couple of quests to get 2-3 letters, and dont care about the armor or jewels can get a quick buck this way, and often sell them.

But yes, being informed is always good - probably should change the thread topic to reflect that.

Should the price of the trade contracts be tied to the purchase price of the gems? Seems to me it should be pegged to the sale price of the gems instead. Pedantic I know, but still...

this=! Scam, people really need to think before they speak

this is just common buisness, buy low , sell high

if you offer to sell your car for 2K, even though i know i can get 40K for it, would that be a scam? of course not, and this is no different

(and yes, that means buying black dye for 1g isnt a scam either, get over it)

A scam is explicitly manipulating the uninformed. Now you are informed.

Yeesh. You people are discrediting the entire problem just because I called it a "wardrobe malfunction" instead of "Janet's Jackson's boob fell out."
