Good News / Bad News (A Friendly Warning)

WE LOVE YOU GAILE, anyway the halloween event was great!

i swear alot, but never at anyone, genrealy its in celabration, such as **** yeah, after beating the mad king at rock paper scissors, it really does mater on context.
also if anyone swears at me, yes i get angry but i leave it behind the keyboard, so the only people that have to hear my fing and blinding are the member of my family.
genrealy, its safer to do very little, that way the chances of saying something or doing something that might offend someone are reduced, because remeber, A-net know where you live!, in a manner of speaking.

also as a side note, i wonder how all those people who cyber feel now that they know that anet can read there whispers...

I was in the same district and I got to sit around for the 20 minutes, or whatever it was, and watch people yelling and freaking out, saying they should find this person and kill him/her, calling them a stupid noob, swearing at them, and just generally being stupid, insulting assholes.

Honestly? Everybody freaking out ruined it more for me than the person with the disco ball.

tbh, since Factions release i got local chat turned of 99% of the time
i enter a town, simply cuz of the profanity, flaming and ppl spamming
their sales.

can i report noobs for selling gold staves 6%/10 for 5k instead of the merchant ?

I don't understand people... ok I was in a few districts where the immature out numbered the mature, I got tired of the bs that was being said.. I uncheck the arrow next to local and next to trade.. no more problem, I don't have to read all the blanetly ignorant crap that they are spewing upon those two channels. If chat filter doesn't do it for you turn the channels completely off... Guild and Alliance chat ftw!!

For the most part swearing doesn't bother me.I figured if other people wanted to use the filter, that was their option and it was nice that it was an option. I didn't realize that cussing in general was a bannable offence. I suppose if it gets out of hand that it should get a person banned, but how come the idiots labeling people don't get banned? I'm sorry, but seeing people being labeled as noobs bothers me more than someone cussing.

I hate to say it but the majority at the event dous not care,not when i was there anyway,they all clicked the king so often there fingers are paralyzed,spammed the emotes so often itd be impossible to say anything without it drifting off in the endless waves of spam,and then theres people who,indeed,take things WAY to far.

The problem is though that between the masses of players there is only a small number that has an intrest in the event itself,the majority just seems to want the stupid hat and the halloween items so they can sell it and be rich or use them and try to look superior, i dont think the event is all that successfull when folks just want the items and show no intrst whatsoever in what else is available,thats just greed at work.

It truly saddnes me to see such a sight,still you did a good job at the event and i suppose "thanks" is in order,so thank you.

Oh and its REALY good to know you are trying to deal with those crossing the line,thatl make the game a better place.

If you don't like it, i'd say go to another district, I mean there are 100 other districts.

Now, your saying, Why should I have to take my time to switch to another district cause of one stupid persons actions?
It's to be the bigger person. For one person to get atleast 20 people mad, is pretty entertaining to me. :P

Thank you Gaile and the support team for taking these immature people out of the game.
I'm really tired of people talking trash when I get to a popular district (i.e. LAd1 KCd1 ACd1 etc.).
I think my screenshots folder would be way too full if I were to report every illgotten person i've ran across, and i'd be busy reporting people and not actually enjoying my time on GW.
Now of course if there is one particular person that is acting insanely rude, I wouldn't mind taking a few minutes to report them.

THANK YOU, Anet, for doing something about those people. I had the local turned off every time I touched down in Kamadan because of comments (the typical "ur mom" as well as the f this-n-that then the sexual talk PLUS some downright racist comments). During the event was much worse.

THANK YOU, Anet, for another GREAT holiday! Four of my girls now sport witch's hats (that was what I wanted) ). A dear friend even ran my low level mesmer to LA from Piken then did the quest with her to get to Kamadan in time! Now that mesmer can truly be stylin' when she whoops the charr .

My question is this... Why doesn't ArenaNet select a couple of people to act as moderators. These can be long standing players with a good record of sportsmanship and helping people out.

All the swearing and name calling that currently goes on in local chat (trading aside) is starting to seriously put me off the game.

When I'm in a town I like to have local chat on so if I'm trading I can possibly help somebody out who doesn't know how to do something.

I would really love a handful of people who can boot people from the game for unsportsman/crude/rude behaviour.

I agree, some of the other insults are more offensive to me.

On the NPC blocking thing, put them on a fancy pedastal(??), throne (The Mad King would do that anyways I think )

Great Holiday, typing fast was fun.

I myself reported atleast 10ish people to support. Had my trusty notebook and pen on hand shame i couldnt attend the last 2 events. Nightfall and laziness made me forget to get my 2 main characters to kamadan

Well as I see it offensive language pops up on occassion and thus the reasons for the filters. Sometimes its a forgivable slip of the fingers - but when they are dropping the Fbomb and calling people all sorts of nifty cusswords just for the fun of it, then the filter goes out the window because chat becomes nothing but #)&#$@ you #&%)Q# I wouldn't )(&#$)#

I'm glad that so many were reported and dealt with swiftly and yet I am sorry for all those who had to put up with it. I am ALSO very glad to see the one poster in here that admitted his crime and was gracious about it. That's a great example of what humanity should be like (imo).
I tried to get some of the fussing in the district I was in to halt but then gave up. At least one person in there was looking for a reason to cuss someone out and I wasn't about to give him ammo though others did.
And for those saying, just turn off local and trade: We shouldn't have to! The game wasn't designed so that we could all be anti social because there are idiots about -_- If that were the case I would be playing my ps2

All in all I was very happy with the event and all that you guys managed to cook up. Our guild that turned a year old when NF was released got its annual halloween pic taken in LA by the lighthouse and one with MANY from our alliance... Getting that alliance pic was a pain lol -_-

Not to be rude but if you want us to change our name..... instead of BANNING US. Please give us a feature that allow users to change their name anytime they want.

Polgara Darshiva, remember the game called Counter Strike. If you know that game well. You would know that peoples are given the privilage of become mods. We all know how hot-headed some peoples can get. I remember that i met some mods who enjoy the power they gotten and ban, kick, slap, and slay without warning. I agree, putting peoples that meet the requirement to become a mod is fine with me. But putting random peoples as mods would be bad idea. Since we really don't know what they're capable of once they got mod power.
