Hey, well last week I started to get alot of error 7s on my computer, when Nightfall came out, I get a error 7 almost every couple of minutes, especially when I try to log in or map travel to a location. I know this is probably not my internet or ANETS fault, because my brothers computer (which btw is older than mine) has no troubles at all. He is getting no error 7s at all. I am getting constant error 7s and sometimes crashes.
My specs are as follows:
128 6600GT Nvidia
120g Hardrive
1gb Ram (512 x2)
3.5 AMD processor
Can anyone help me?
Error 7s almost constantly :(

Yeah, I have been having this for some time, all you can do as far as I know, is wait for a few minutes in the town...and usaully if you try to leave after waiting a few minutes you won't error 7. It's a real pain, especially if you zone and join a group and they leave very quickly...
I was going to try to reinstall but being on dial up...that is like shooting my self in the foot as I won't be able to play for a few days maybe even weeks.

I'm having this same problem, and I've pretty much concluded it's because of overcrowding and masses of people still bunched up near the starting areas. The way I solved this last night, and got to play an Err7 free session. You first right-click your Guild Wars icon on the desktop and then click "Properties", it should bring this up:
Notice where I put "-perf" in the line. Make sure there's one space before you type in -perf.
Now, once you load your game you'll have some numbers at the top of your screen, FPS and your "ping" to the server, you'll want to watch the "Bytes/Sec: ####" of that number. It should spike pretty high once you load an outpost. When you load a crowded city or outpost, you watch those numbers, as soon as they drop to 1000 or below (not exact numbers, but that seems to be the "safe" range to change districts or portal out), zone to the last district you can manage, this should make life a lot easier. It's the little trick I've been using and haven't had Err7 or lag since.
Once you get playing and already have the areas opened up, just make sure to select the last district you can and you should avoid the lag entirely. Now over time, this problem should fix itself, but I hope this helps some of you in the short term. I know how infuriating this is.

Agreed with others, think this is "new chapter syndrome". Everyone is bunched up in a tiny area and the servers are dying. I never lag on this game, but last night I kept lagging up really bad and eventually err7 whenever in Istass (sp?) Fields. This eventually cleared up. It then happened again this morning whenever I tried to get tot he Plains of Jarrel from the Sunspear Greathall; everytime I went out the portal it would err7 immediately rather than let me even get to the loading screen. So I simply mapped to Kamadan and ran to the marker in Plains; it worked fine.
So my suggestion would be if you're having problems in one specific area, go do some quests elsewhere and come back at a quieter time.

ive crashed to my desktop 4 times. sent the report each time to anet. and ive had maybe 10 err7s and other errors.
i always use the perf string, and my fps are below 20 in outposts and outside its around 20-75
my refresh is 85hz and i have a really good gaming rig. so i figure its just the game/servers. but its pissing me off

Me too, heh my buddies thought it was just me because I too am dial-up, but i knew it was something with Guild Wars, I've had the same problem since the major update/halloween event started.
I can't enter any town without really really bad lag and alot of error=007 messages unless the town has like 10 people or less.

Im having 007 or 010 every 5 minutes regardless of the town or outpost Im in... Funny thing is that I dont have lag (apart from low fps), simply 007 out of nowhere. My connection - at least with my isp - is fine, so I guess its my isp <-> ANet :/ As you can easily guess, I can't enjoy any of Tyria (Elona OR Tyria OR Cantha) at all, Im just waiting till the even is over >_>
I am having almost constant err007, too.
Its stopping me form getting a hat! :-(
my ISP is 1.5MBit and my PC has 2.5GHz of AMD 64bit goodness, X800XL 256MB GDDR3, 1GB GeIL Ultra PlatinumX 2-2-2-5, WD raptor, DFi lanparty, etc.
---->>> I used the contig file and it WORKED <<<<< see sticky
it had 617 fragments, and now. . .the lag is almost gone.
