Ok so I know about the change but exactly how does it apply in game?

I mean I buy a set of armour in Nightfall for my Ele, now I need to apply the insignias that I want. Do they stack or is it only for that piece of armour that you apply the insignia to?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, been searching all over but I don't think the puppy likes my search phrases

this is an attempt (maybe better than nothing).. but please excuse me if im wrong about particulars

When you buy nightfall armor, it has no stats like <+5 when controlling 1 minion> or anything like that. Just the AL, and the inherant energy bonus for each class. You can then buy new runes like Vitae and Attunement if you want some added energy or health at the cost of your other minor runes on your armor. there are also ones to help with certain conditions, but i dont know the names. Then you can get insignias. Think of them like runes, but they dont overwrite runes. You get an insignia, you apply to a piece of armor, and whammo, there's your complete armor. you CAN put an insignia and a rune in one piece of armor. And Vitae runes DO stack with Vigor runes just not in the same piece, obviously ...

anyway, hope that helped a little

Ok so one insignia covers the whole armour set? Or do you still need to apply an insignia to each piece of the armour to get the stats all over?

Each piece. And for the record, you CANNOT change the insignia without destroying the insignia unless you want to chance destroying your armor. Considering the price of some insignias, it's sometimes cheaper to replace the armor.

so do insignias apply only to nightfall armour or to all new armour crafted in any of the previous 2 games?

^Only Nightfal armor. Think of them like Gems going into sockets in Diablo 2. You can only use them on armor that has an empty spot. The Bonuses on the armor from Prophecies and Cantha already have stats equivalent to nightfall armor + insignias.

^ You buy them from a Rune Trader (good luck... they've been out since NF went live ) or you find them on Gold Armors dropped by mobs.

I've found insignias on blues. It is possible when you get a magical armor drop to salvage the rune, the insignia and still have the armor that dropped to either sell or salvage for materials. This makes keys a much better option for making money. I've gotten many purple armor drops that I was able to make money over the the price of a key because I was able to sell all three.

Give it some time.
In a week or two the supply should be high enough to finally get it at the Rune Trader. It's just that many people don't know about Insignies and being able to sell/buy them at the Rune Trader yet.
Plus the trader offers a ridiculously low amount of money for it, even though he is completely out of stock.

So lets say I get some shiney new armor for my warrior, and I put the energy insignia on it (to make it like glads). If I decide I want dreadnaights AL bonus insted of the +energy, can I just put a dreadnaught insig over the glads one?

Basicly, do they work just like runes?

Yes. Yes they are just like runes.

At least it explains the sometimes lowered prices of armor (ie the 1k in command post, 5k, 10k armors). You 'can' get armor insignias on any blue/purple/gold armor drop now, sometimes with rune, blues seem to be one or the other though as I have yet to find a blue with both rune and insignie.

All of my currently 7 insignias (some repeats, so only 3 unlocked) have come from blue weapons found around the first 2 or 3 newbie zones.

I got a Insignia in a purple drop at Desolation. Nothing special though.

I am dissapointed though that there aren't any Necro Insignias yet. Farmers need to pick up the pace!
