Unable to log in (the news box doesn't even appear...)

Ok, so when i start up guild wars it runs, thats fine. Then i look at the screen.. no news box, it's just the login one. So i try to log in.. and a small box comes up, it says connecting, so i go away for about an hour or so and it still says 'connecting' when i come back... this only started hapening yesterday and i've tried all the conventional things like reebooting ect ect. help?

I used to have this happen for a good few seconds, never for quite the length of time you've experienced it

yes so have i, sometimes the news wouldn't appear for maybe 5 minutes at the most but now it doesn't appear at all.. also when i left it 'connecting' for so long code err 58 appeared.. this leads me to believe it's server side? i mean i just use a modem and don't mess around with routers ect ect.

well what i did was kept reloading GW till it worked then when it worked id reboot the computer
dont know if it works still

it just seems that anet is screwing with too much
but still night fall rocks

Well i was reading up on some threads and aparantly the same thing happened when factions went online and wasn't fixed for about 2 weeks.... it better not be the same issue this time. They also didn't have any actual ways to fix it other than letting anet fix it on there end..

i finaly managed to solve my problem by deleting my gw.dat file so now i can play the game ^^

after i download 13154 more files... *sigh*
