I believe it's in his honor. I know several other people who have had their names immortalized in-game on NPCs, heck I even know of two guilds who had areas named after them. ANet is kind to the people who have huge positive influences to their game.

but ensign isnt a name its a millitary rank. so its definitly not named after any character

unless a forumite's name is 'Charehli', this means nothing. Ensign is a common low rank in many armed forces historically.....it's sorta like 'Mr.'.

If I find a boss named 'Mr. whatever', it doesn't mean it's a nod to my dad who's never heard of this game.
