Equipping your Heroes....

I know many of us have tons of "stuff". Even when I am not trying to packrat and hoarde, I still have too much stuff laying around. However, I got to thinking about it. I'm going to need to outfit my heros, some of them at least. I am good on caster stuff. I have plenty to share. Warrior stuff? For Koss? I don't have a stitch to give the poor man. The Paragon and Dervish heros? They're gonna have to make do with the pre-order items until I can find/buy something. So, what about you guys? What are you going to do with regards to equipping your heros?

GOTY and Preorder items should keep everyone equipped nicely.... for a long time.

Not everyone bought GOTY edition.

You did ask how "People" are going to equip them, and thats how he is so...

I'm storing some collector's items.
those don't as much space a real weapons, and i'll use them to get the types of weapons i'll want for my heroes.

Yes, and I simply commented that not everyone purchased GOTY edition. So there will be people who will need to find other ways of equipping their heros. I didn't invalidate his method in the least. Just pointed out that it's an option not available to everyone. (For that matter, with the troubles of getting the PRBP, that option is also not available to everyone.) Example for my heros: The Paragon and Dervish heros will use pre-order items. For the rest, I intend to visit the weaponsmiths and collectors in Tyria/Cantha to get a few items. On my shopping list:

Sword and Axe for Koss
Shield for Koss
Staves for the casters

I will most likely not add mods to any of them. As I get into later areas of the game, I will add mods if and when they are needed. I'm a bit worried about forgetting that I have greens/golds etc on a hero. So I doubt they'll be using any of them. (However, I do have a Tanzit's Defender that I haven't bothered to sell. Free Shield! Even if it does suck.)

Has it been said anywhere if heroes will be account-based or character-based? I have one char of each primary so does that mean I need to equip a set of heroes for each one? Seems kind of overwhelming to remember which Koss is set up with which equipment and which build etc if they are character-based.

I would have to say they are likely character based considering you have to level them.

They are charcter based. Which is one reason I am concerned over the number of them. I know I can only have 3 with me at a time, but still the others that I've acquired are available and can be interchanged as needed. That's a lot of stuff.

I think I'm going to do much as I did in the preview: if a weapon drops that is better than what the hero has, he/she gets that. At least, that's what's going to happen the first couple of weeks since I'm taking in my necro and trying to get as far in as possible.

Also remember that certain heroes are required to enter certain missions - Koss in Chahbek Village, Melonni in Jokanur Diggings, Tahlkora in Blacktide Den. It's not a stretch to assume that future missions are going to continue that trend. If you're planning on using the same three heroes for everything, be prepared to be looking around for someone else with the appropriate heroes to pair up with. If you want to be independent, though, expect to be equipping a majority of your heroes, at least temporarily.

During the Nightfall preview event, i followed a post made by Red rooster about sending your hench far away in sorrows when only the boss is left using the controls, spent four hours farming sorrows with my friend, i ended up with 11 greens and she got 8 (after abit of trading) so all mine went into storage waiting for my NF Hero's

Since then, i have got heavily into green farming and getting collectors weapons i like, i now have two pvp character storages full of stuff for them. Bring on Nightfall!!

It sounds like you are well prepared Chicory. Sadly, I didn't even think of it until today. =/

Dont forget scrolls for fast leveling! I farmed SF & Tombs for greens, scrolls, and runes. I also have done many FOW Chest runs for gold weapons and mods. I am set for all 6 main prophesies chars for the builds I want minus a few runes. I cant wait for NF just to get some storage space back.

Well, it's not the heroes are introduced naked. On noob island, each hero is introduced at a higher level with a better weapon appropriate to that level. For the heroes on the mainland, I'd assume they come with maxed weapons, so I doubt there's any need to equip them if you don't want to.

nicely modded collectors items will do them just fine, they even work perfectly well on my characters - that is until i started dressing and equipping them for the sheer bling

of course, equipping Koss with a req 8 15^50 sundering chaos axe of pure bling bling will still not turn him into "mighty mouse here to save the day" but it will certainly make you feel groovy lolz!

yea and once I build my funds back up to what they use to be then they will all be decked out in good old fashioned chapter1 stuff..
