Looking at what I have uncovered compared against what is left, I think Elona is bigger than Cantha, and bordering on Tyria (but not quite as big )

You have no way of knowing. The Prophecies map had huge areas you couldn't reach, Factions had even bigger areas you couldn't reach. I don't understand how people are saying the map looks big. It does look nice though.

Alot of the map does looked detailed. Hopefully, we'll be able to explore it all.

In terms of size, Nightfall overview map is even smaller than the Factions one. Prophecies map measures about 7.5x7.5 in terms of how many screenshots it would take along each side of the map to cover the whole side. By comparison, Factions is about 5.5x5.5, and Nightfall is 5.5x4.5.

What I'm hoping we see with Nightfall is that much more of the space is explorable. Prophecies could get away with tons of unexplorable space because there was so much of it we could actually reach. Factions left a lot of space unexplorable, but without the Prophecies luxury of numerous explorable areas covering a lot of ground. If Nightfall packs more explorable areas into its small map than Factions did into its larger one, it could stand on par with Prophecies in the Guild Wars franchise.

Yes. Even though Nightfall's map is smaller in comparism to Factions, it contains more open areas and less rubbish inbetween. Rubbish as in areas which you can't get to (fog).

If you compare the explorable areas from Nightfall to Factions, the explorable size of Elona is probably bigger. Factions simply has a bigger continent with less explorable areas.

Hardcore PvPers won't care of course.

If you count just the amount of land there is then Elona is larger than Cantha.

The map for Nightfall -- as in actual land mass -- is larger than Factions but not quite as large as Prophecies. There are more missions and quests in Nightfall when compared to Factions.

Hope that helps!

Nice to see the lovely Gaile grace a thread. And I'd be inclined to agree with her: it seems alot bigger altogether

i read somewhere that there is supposed to be 1/3 more to explore in elona than in cantha. im not sure how much smaller cantha is than tyria, but i will assume tyria will still be the largest

I feel as if though the Elona map seems smaller than the Canthan or the Tyrian one. Elona, thankfully has more explorable area than Cantha. Yet the map seems like too much desert and arid mountains rather than the more extreme enviroments of Cantha or Tyria.

Well Elona is probably a mixed between Tyria and Cantha in terms of how much freedom you have for exploring it without that locked gate that will only open when you have done the appropiate quest or mission.

there's more landmass then water so it's good.

i just don't understand why they dont MAKE areas explorable....they did it with Grenth's Footprint right? couldnt they build and area, add a portal and have it explorable in the future?
