I haven't played the preview that far in, but I got to thinking.... when the actual nightfall release comes around, why not let us use OUR heroes? I could carve a very large path of death with 4 of my own characters. Could take some nice group screenies too. Gear is already there, skills, etc. Would be a nice addition.

I was about to say that would be a bit too overpowering, but if you can give your Hero's upgraded armor and weapons anyway, it's all the same I guess. :P

You do not need to buy new armor. thier armor upgrades itself depnding on your heros level. Only thing you'll have to buy is thier runes, and thier weapons. which you could usually just find on the ground outside.

Just get some collecter stuff for the heros it's cheap and effective

I'm wondering... are you limited to only one of each class in your hero group or can you have something like 3 blood spikers as your heroes?

Either way, I like all my characters and I know them well. It would be fun to have four of them playing at once.

I'd like to use my heroes too. All they would have to do is use whatever armor skin you have on but reset the stats to whatever normal hero stats are.

They are premade. So far I've seen a warrior, 2 monks and a dervish hero. I think there is some choice in which heroes you get, but they are already named with a primary profession, and a default skillset.

Sounds nice at first, but think about what you're asking for a moment. Right now, I think the heroes they've provided are better because we don't have to buy armor for them. It upgrades automatically, but we can still use runes to customize it. And as far as skills and attributes go, they're more or less the same as any other of our other normal characters, since the skills they use are ones we've unlocked. If we could use our own characters as "heroes" there'd be the huge disadvantage of actually having to craft armor for them and the only real advantages would be that we'd get to name them and choose their appearances.

It's not a bad idea, though, and I wouldn't mind seeing it at some point for one major reason: If we could use our own characters as heroes, it'd allow us to level up multiple PvE chars at once without having to play through the story campaign multiple times which would be really, really nice.

Actually, I think once it's released, you'll be able to buy armor for your hero. Taken from GWs.com

Heroes have skills, attributes, weapons, and armor just like players do. You can use the Skills and Attributes panel to select their skills and attributes, and the Inventory panel to select their equipment. (During this preview event, you cannot yet customize your Heroes' armor.)

They say you'll be able to customize it, not buy it. It's probably referring to runes. Can you not yet add runes to their armor? I haven't tried. Read the article on the official site about how the hero system works. It says very clearly that their armor upgrades as they level. You don't buy it.

Correct. You can't add runes to Heroes' armor in Preview Event.

one VERY obvious reason for not allowing this.
if you could use your own characters, they'd advance with you and gain exp with you, the whole 9 yards...it would allow people to run and powerlevel themselves, and not only that, but 4 characters at a time.

Its an interesting idea at first, but looking in depth you see the above problem. You could collect quest rewards x characters at a time. Farm, and no matter wo the item dropped for it would drop for you (gold would no longer be shared with party cuz the party is only you). And countless other things would make it totally unfair and people would never play together because it would be far more rewarding to only play with your own characters.

Interesting, but surely impossible.

I'm totaly for this. Even if they have to leach your drops and they have to be level 20.

Helps us RPers out.

The Heroes are there for story purposes as well, though. Like party members in a console turned based RPG, playing a lot like games like Tales of Symphonia. Each character having to have its own personality.

For people who don't like this idea, how about limiting this option to pvp heros vs heros only?? It'll be better since you can't just target human player because you can't tell which is human controlled and which isn't.
