Im not sure if im the first one to invent this but still... i call this build: Frenzy Ranger...


Frenzy ranger (R/W)


attributes:

Marksmanship: 12 + 1
Wildernes survival: 12 + 1
expertise 3 + 1




Skills:

1. Dual shot
2. Frenzy
3. Barrage
4. Kindle arrows
5. Hunters shot
6. Penetreating shot
7. Favorable winds
8. troll unuguent



tips:

1. not that good in loing fights like AB
2. at the start of the match put favorable winds
3. When enemies come closer put Kindle arrows
4. Keep on spamming barrage and frenzy (frenzy you put always when it ends)
5. use troll unuguent to keep your health up when not fighting



Needed:
Vampiric bow string (superior)
Superior Vigor
Druids Armour
Minor Expertise
Minor Marksmanship
Minor Wilderness survival
Bow grip of fortitude (+30 hp Most preferably)

Works great on assasins, monks and warriors... but also i usually beat other rangers, touchers and eles in 1v1...

Looks like random skills put together to make a build, I would be happy to test 1v1 agains't you =)

Did you noticed barrage cancel preparations ?

+no res, no defense, no interrupt, no other stance to cancel frenzy if attacked. If you want to spike with Ra, try Quick shot/needling shot.

Finally, what the point to be Ra if only 4 in expertise ?

Okay. First, I'd pick either barrage, or 'other' attack skills and stick with it. Barrage doesn't synergize well with other attack skills. Barrage isn't for PvP, at all. If that's what your using it for, then you need to look into something else.

Second. Kindle doesn't work with barrage, so everytime you used it, kindle would be stripped. So if you plan on using barrage drop kindle.

Third. If you plan on using 5 energy skills, then you need to have at least 9 in expertise. That'd keep you effective for the 'long' battles.

Well first of all... i've noticed that barrage drops kindle arrows off me... but the kindle is to make sure i start doing max dmg stright on my first shot... use first all other attack skills exept barrage and barrage last... and i dont rly care if you say it got no defense... it still works... and yes i do own most classes on 1v1...

4. you're promoting barrage in pve

I honestly don't see how you could beat any widely used build 1v1, unless it's a really scrubby popular build, like an echo nuker or a pve stance tank.

Anyway, 1v1 has no interest in GW. As soon as you know your enemy's build, get the counter.

And your counter would be anyone carrying a skill like x % chances to block/evade attack or wathever.

Sorry, very bad build.

Well, if the prep stripping isn't enough for you to understand why Barrage is a bad choice.... then why are you using it 1v1? Seriously,

Point has been made, but you can do the same thing with fewer attack skills AND have room for utility in interrupts/conditions/defense, and your low expertise is crippling.

If you think you do great with this build 1v1 or anytype of PvP... Then you really need to try a Cripshoter which is arguably one of the most powerful PvP builds around. I hate to promote cookie cutting, but filling your bar with attack skills isn't exactly breaking new ground either.

Should you want to keep the basis of your build, and salvage something then try something like this:

Dual Shot
Penetrating Shot
Punishing Shot/Distrating Shot
Troll Ungent
Whirling Defense/Throw Dirt
Frenzy
Kindle/Read the wind (my choice)
Rez Sig

Does the same thing as your build, but with interrupts and defense as well as damage. But since you are using Frenzy, you'll have to make sure your Expertise is high enough to handle multiple 10 energy skills and you'll have to train yourself away from the spaming mentalitly.

On the other hand if you like spam then:

Focused Shot
Frenzy
Preperation of choice
Whirling Defense/Escape (if you have a spare elite slot)
Throw Dirt
Troll ungenet
Interrupt of Choice (to be used sparingly as it doesn't synergize with F. Shot.)
Rez sig

Personally, I don't think a Frenzy Ranger is the way to go in PvP while it will shine in PvE.

First off, Rangers don't need a defensive stance really in PvE. In PvP they do, and you should always use Lightning over Whirling.

Second, Frenzy for Rangers is actually not a bad idea per se. It does make good use of the secondary. But, overall Tigers Fury is better. Here's why:

My ranger runs:
16 Marks (duh)
14 Expertise (to clock 10E down to 4E)
Rest into BM

It's enough for a 7 sec Tigers at 4E, that's not bad. And in PvE it should rarely take you more than 7 secs to kill a non-boss.

Attack pattern something like this:
Spirit: FW
Prep: RTW
Dual + Punishing
Tigers
Marauders + Savage
Tigers should be more than enough to last the rest of the life of the enemy.

hey everybody, this is the last build i could use as ranger, its too bad to be true. Well against noobish players, it could work , (after all with my toucher i need only 4 skils to banish then), but against something average you kill nobody, no stances , no sure shots, kind of nothing, and to have a prep with barrage its a joke.

Note : this days as a physical dmg dealer you hit nobody with normal atacks, you need cripl. shot, called shot, and preparations as ignite arrows or P.stance/chk gas, . i use the last one or the seeking arrows, cause i want to HIT!

to be blunt, i seriously question the quality of other people your dualing with this build...i would give suggestions to the build, but you have just done so much wrong with it in my opinion that if i tried fixing it you'd have a completely different build with very few similarities. the best advice i can give you is stop being hypocritcal, you are trying to maximize damage with frenzy, kindle arrows, vampiric bow string, and all these attacks, yet you don't include any 2ndary attack skills like distracting, savage, or quickshot to fire directly after your primary attack skills.

Regardless of the flaws in the OP's build, Frenzy is still a great skill for a Ranger to bring along since:

(1) It takes no points in Tactics to get the full effect
(2) It's a skill so Expertise reduces the energy needed to activate
(3) Activates instantly
(4) Looks cool when combined with bow attacks....

Frenzy on ranger isnt bad no one said it was. Frenzy without a cancel stance is bad. Lets say a none stupid warrior comes hits eviscerate, executioners/server, gash, final thurst/ or Dev hammer, crushing blow, fierce blow. Those combos alone deal a massive amount of damage on a ranger. Now imagine hitting a ranger under frenzy with no cancel stance. He is pretty much a exploitable corpse for necro's not to mention another minion for them. There are many terrible things with this build. Barrage with a prep stupid build right from the start no if ands or buts about it. Secondly only 4 expertise what is the point of being a ranger might as well be a bow warrior/ranger. Like someone said if there were to change this build it would be a completely different build.
