A Bunny Thump Question

Hey guys,

I'm completely new to any form of a melee character. I have active characters in just about any of the caster professions but I believe it's time to bury the hatchet and move on.

The first melee build I decided to go with is a Bunny Thumper R/W. I'm familiar with the build but not really with the weapons for the build. Is it better to go with a green hammer or to modify your own gold hammer?

I guess what I'm asking is, what is the BEST possible hammer I could use for the build? You're allowed 3 modifiers/upgrades, right? Which should I go with? I have enough gold to afford anything but what should I look for?

If a successful Thumper requires 2 different hammers to be a complete success what secondary weapon should I use?

Like, I said guys. I would only like to know about The Best... Thanks for reading!

This is General Discussion. I don't even see why it's such a big deal that it's posted here. If you know the answer, then please just be friendly and answer it? If you don't, is a comment even necessary? What a waste of a post!

I don't see how being a "smart-ass" solves anything but perhaps trying to make yourself look cool in front of your friends. Well, no worries. You definately are rewarded 2 cool points from me. /earn (my self respect)

Dont know where you got your build, but this should help:

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/R/W_Bunny_Thumper

Equipment

Standard PvP hammer is decent, but Zealous weapons are preferable for providing energy as are Furious weapons to help charge Hammer Bash. Switch into a non-Zealous weapon when not actively swinging to keep up energy regeneration.

BTW for the other mods i would say a +armor mod since you dont have a shield.

Hurray for you on the second post, i find it annoying people posting just to say "post is in wrong location post here" (Even if the person is right)and not even help you a little bit ,atleast post the link to the forum the person should have posted or link to wiki... how hard is that, remember some people dont know wiki.

What is Vera? I've never heard of it. o_O

So should I get both a Zealous Mursaat along with the Gavel of Neph. to switch out when I'm getting exhausted on energy?

Thanks for the help, by the way

I use vamp hammer, and zealous hammer.

Use when needed.

Thanks for the help, by the way No no no,She/he is giving examples on what to use, or what is commonly used.Neither of these 2 are a MUST.The stats on them however is what matters as you can see one is zealous +defense and the other is sundering+health.

The most important things here are the zealous and sundering mods the rest you can go with what you like, including the skin, the icebreaker for example looks nice, but im sure a collector+mods is much cheaper ,so that would be a "ice collector hammer of defense" if you get what i mean

The best hammer will have a vampiric 5:1 mod and +30 fortitude , but only pull out this hammer when you go for the kill. You will spend much time chasing opponents down and the vampiric degen will work against you when running, also when you are missing because of wards, blind, and various evasion stances and protection spells. Timing is everything. Your second hammer should be sundering, furious, or elemental depending on your opponent. I say +30 fortitude over +5 armor, because hex invoked degen is your worst weakness imho.

Skins depend on your sense of style. Mursaat and Wolf hammer are what I use but that’s my taste, they are not necessary for success. Don’t get a green if you are short on gold. You can always remod a non-green if your needs change. Just make sure you get req 10 or less so you can wield it with ease.

zealous of fortitude 15>50 is best k, but you should always have an elemental damage weapon, and for this build a vamp hammer also

Well I will start by saying whatever mods suit your playstyle are always best.
But here are my tips : Zealous is never needed as a thumper, if you play a ferocious strike thumper you will never get below 15 -20 energy even spamming you skills. Furious is never neded becasue Tigersfury (Beastiel Fury) takes care of addrenaline build up. I would definatly agree 1 hammer with +7 physical is nice becasue tht is the one area of defence a ranger lacks. Vamp, Sundering are my Fav's also I always have an Icy Hammer due to the fact tht warrior armor now is wealer against elemental dmg (Give you the edge against a warrior)

Like i said though go with your playstyle. Good Luck on your Thumper

zealous on a hammer is meh...hammers attack slow and still only gives 1 energy. Gets outshined by swords/Axes/daggers!

If you only got too hammers, I'd recommend:

1 Vampiric / +30 HP for All Others
1 Elemental / +30 HP for Warriors

Also depends on your Stats and how much expertise you have. If you have low expertise you might need a Zealous hammer, but in most cases it shouldn't.

Good luck, they're an extremely fun build to play. Even more fun if you have a monk to back you up.

I would never use one on a thumper but those who do come out slightly ahead, here is why: (assuming 1 pip regen = .33 mana per sec, please correct if I’m wrong)

3 pips of rengen = 1 mana per second so in 3 second a ranger has 3 energy
4 pips of regen = 1.33 mana per second so in 3 secs a caster has 4 energy
2 pips of regen = .66 mana per second so in 3 secs a warrior has 2 energy

If you reduce a thumper to 2 pips rengen with a zealous hammer, then activate TF/BF you are increasing the hammer attack rate from 1.75 seconds to 1.17 seconds.

So you are getting 2 energy from regen and 2 bursts of 1 mana each for a total of 4 mana in 3 seconds. Putting the thumper at caster level regen. But with Ferocious Strike it makes no sense, unless there is little or nothing in expertise.

one reason we use zealous is because it ANNOYS the person you are attacking.

And yes, It does lose energy that way.
