Elite Weekend's Worst Chest Runs

Hello again! Well this elite weekend, Anet doubled the chance of getting a gold drop on monsters and chests. So, I've decided to spend all of my savings buying keys hoping that I would get a decent drop. I have seen in the forums about how successful their chests runs and the best that they've gotten. Well I thought what about us not so lucky. So here it is.

I did an urgoz warren run and I brought with me about 15 keys. I opened all five chests. (My teammates gotten a gold drop from monsters except for me) and the chests contained these:

Straw effigy req 11 (communing)
Straw effigy req 13 (communing)
Straw effigy req 13 (air magic)
Ironwing bow of pruning req 13 (19% vs plants)
Dragoncrest axe req 10 (19% vs hexed foes)

LMAO I challenge you guys to beat that. Note I did not get a gold drop from monsters either and sold these items to the merchant and end up having 1k and some change loss of 6k and some change.

ha, i got 4 straw effigies hexed and one Zodiac scepter hexed... i was so happy ^^

That bow would be good for farming wailing lords forest in FoW tho I usually have 14 or 16 marks there..

Gold max damage r9 zodiac sword of dragon slaying 19% Dmg to dragons.

The irony is after getting jack shit all weekend (aparty from 1 alliance member who got a perfect req9 Vertebreaker) the drops have sucked. Then we went again today and someone got a perfect Ironwing Flatbow, a perfect 10/10 Domination staff and a few other good items.

Half the drops, 10x less people farming them.

I got 3 effigys and they all sucked, but i did get a 15^50 req9 zodiac sword
someone in our group got a vertebreaker req 10 i think.

After having done numerous Deep runs prior to this weekend, then doing Urgoz and Deep over the claimed "elite, double loot" weekend, I would say that the drops were in no way better than they ever were (all I got was merchant fodder). As a previous poster mentioned.... double the drops < 10x more people going for them may be the reason........

I have my spot that I go to, and its usually pretty good, but this string of about 5 runs was just god awful. The only thing I got worth more than 300g was a bow grip +30 health. As you can see the bow also had an ice string so it wasnt a guaranteed salvage.

Side note: I paid 420g each for the keys.

Horible Actually the chests and monster drops always sucked about 90% of the time. I think most folks were hoping that by doubling the sucky drop rate, their chance of maybe, just maybe getting something good would be raised.

Sadly, I'm not sure this was the case for most folks. I stopped counting at 30 the number of zodiac staffs I had gotten from Urogoz runs after getting a bow or two from him a month or so ago, I wrote that wretched no dropping time trap off. Then came the Elite weekend and I was reinspired. I made two runs this weekend. Yup more staffs. And annoying perfect daggers that no one wants....

I posted another thread voicing my opinion on the matter of the elite mission weekend, suffice to say I think it was bunk and delivered very little of what it promised.

Got a bunch of one mod staffs, crappy hammers and effigy's..
But i did get some ok drops also... req 9 15/5 zodiac axe
req 9 ironwing +5 nrj, and a req 10 zodiac longbow 14^50...
So overall 50/50 on good items for me...
But was it worth it screaming my head off telling people what to do... NO!!

I got like always zodiac staff with crappy stats. Dont belive in chests anymore. If i get a drop fron enemys (keys) i use em otherwise i dont. Tryed that tactic before but i ended broke without any gp left. Now i save my money, Even when i get keys i get bad drops only purple, havent got a gold chest i months and if i get one its just to crappy.

I killed Urgoz and he dropped an item for me, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
What really annoys me is what he dropped for me:

White non-max dmg katana.

Needless to say I spent most of the weekend trying to find a team to go back and exact my revenge.

I did my fair shar of straw effigys including one for restoration, which I find to be of even less use than a communing one.

5 straw effigy in a raw....lol
all crap needless to say..
At the last chest i was laughing about 2 min like crazy..
I forgot, i got a purple drop daggers, not max..160 in mercant...
Best run EVER..i got my eyes out from laughing...lol

double rare loot drops in no way means the quality will be better. me and 2 other ppl 3 manned urgoz all day and night and nobody ever got gold drop be happy you at least got merch food.

First time I went to the deep, before the 4th room, I saw about 10 golds drop. None for me. Then, I err7. Second run, Straw Effigy Dropped. Req 9 Soul Reaping, +5 Energy > 50%, Armor +5. Or something like that. Then some crappy Staff from a chest. Next three chests were purple, so I didn't bother with them. Plenty of blues and whites though man. I'm stacked with crafting supplies beyond belief.
