First it was sand shards which everyone flocked to. And now literally 95% of HA is flooded with D/Mo's running around. GvG isnt safe either with teams farming into top 100 with this crap. There is absolutely no room to innovate and make your own build with the new classes and have fun because you almost every team you face is going to be running the overpowered D/Mo build.
Anet can still save face if they fix it before Sunday so we can atleast have one day of some half decent pvp.

I've seen a lot of D/Mo as well.
Easy to use, and no one is used to it yet.
So of course it will win quite a bit.

Give it time; you'll see them having problems sooner or later.

I'll tell you this: it's more refreshing than R/N click-fest.

P.S.

Forget RA. That is the biggest joke in this game. If you win, it's by luck, or by having a good mix of characters who bother following targets and actually ressing and paying attention.

Case in point:

3 characters wailing away on Wammo.
Boon Prot behind a bridge, healing him steadily.
Ranger shooting at Boon Prot through bridge, not hitting, due to obstructed. He doesn't move.
Wammo starts dancing and proclaims, "PWN!"

You promptly lose the game due to the N/Me Echo SS.

And you see a strem of "lol" and "gg".

There is nothing in RA that is bad that has to do with the Dervish (at least now that Shard is fixed).
The RA is full of them and it's fine. I bleed them dry and sometimes they get me. No biggie.
It's the skillless touching builds that are the headache.

it was with great happyness that my paragon sat back and watched the first R/N toucher get slaughter by my 3 D/Mo team mates, all while the poor fool was trying to hurt me.

To to OP this is a preview Beta weekend thingy, (PBWT!) and is so they can go "hmmmmmmmm" and see what doesnt blend together, whats unbalanced, and then think of ways to make it balance. Be it the ol nerf bat, or introducing skills which counter the unbalance.

Anet REALLY should've seen this coming. It may be a preview event... but guilds formerly 200-300 getting top 10 in a day using a ridiculously overpowered build... At this rate GvG is turning into rating farming... D/Mo=iway anyone?

Ladders should've been frozen... and should be reset imo.

My only complaints would be the lack of builds and the inability to choose male Dervish's and female Paragon's.

Other than that, it's rocking! Consider me sold (but hey, I was sold as soon as they announced the damn thing!)

If you look closely the D/Mo builds aren't cookie cutter, they are different... the only thing they all have in common is CoP.

People will always use cookie cutter builds that win. That is a fact of life. It isn't going away.

isn't this a mini season?

what are all these top ranked guilds worried about?

AWhen an actual season of GVG opens up there won't be any Dervishes or Paragons to screw with you

The D/Mo build is way worse than shards ever was. You can do the damage, heal yourself, remove conditions, apply conditions, remove hexes all with only 4 skills + Res Sig.

You can add in a another skill to heal your team at the same time you do everything else without hurting efficiency. You can add a super self heal if you want. You can add permenant haste.

It is way worse than touch. It is like AOE touch with snare and burn.

Case in point: I tried this build before it was getting popular earlier today and got 4 glad points in 5 clicks of the enter random arena button. It is rediculous and I am no longer going to play until it is fixed (except that I still need to unlock a few paragon skills, sigh). Honestly I am not sure what is taking Anet so long to nerf this.

of COURSE Gimmicks ruled the weekend...They said it best on WoC...people know its a beta..they went STRAIGHT for anything that is unbalanced in hopes of free GvG Rank/Fame/Glad Points.

First the most obvious one..Pack Hunters. Premade version is decent..easy to setup..You can even stick 1-2 of them in a balanced team for pressure. Just the Premade with no runes or Improvement can take out the 100AL target on the island by himself in under 8 secs. My Guild went from not even on the ladder to top 300 friday with 5 Pack Hunters on the team..(We have since been PWNT by the newest gimmicks...)

Second people picked up on the assassin exploit and Sand Shards ruled all other forms of PvP for the greater portion of the day, til it was nerfed.

Now People have moved to the newest gimmick - in CoPing Dervishes.

I still love my D/W. All gimmick builds suck though. Touchers = suck, IWAY = suck, D/Mo = suck etc. People should play builds that aren't just button-mash-fests and I-can-press-these-buttons-in-this-same-order-600-times-fests.

All The D/W premade is...is a less effective slower D/Mo Gimmick...

You are meant to stack encahnts on you, then Disenchant yourself using pious assualt.. and Spike heal energy and health with ViM

Thats basically what D/Mos do...but they quicken the process with CoP...

The problem is that so many people flocked to the broken and overpowered builds that they never really got to see how the new classes would work in real-world play, like after Anet adjusts skills to be more balanced. If you really think Dervishes are going to be running around unleasing 200+ DPS spikes every few seconds when the game is released, just keep on holding your breath...

I find the Paragon to be a seriously good support class, and my well replace the Rit in a lot of situations because he can damage as well as support. But a lot of people missed out on this opportunity because they were racking up their cheap kills. So I guess we won't really see how the new classes measure up until the PVE preview weekend, or worse, until the game is actually released.

I had fun, I got to see what the new classes would be like. Though I don't PvP, so all I attacked was those dummies on the Isle of the Nameless. AND BOY!, do I kill dummies fast! :/

I await the PvE event to see what truely awaits for me with the release of Nightfall. I'm already incredibly excited about what I've seen with the Dervish. The Paragon is going to be just like the Monk, Ritualist and Mesmer for me, just another class I won't play.
