Guys i kinda of have the same type of problem i think.....really strange.
I DL the new 7/27 update and then i decided to quit and come back later...
I come back in like 1.5 hrs and the loader says check you Internet connection...
Well no problem there but i thought it was temporary...
4.5 hrs later I still get the same error:
Unable to connect to anet check your internet connection or come back later....

Ok well after alot of time spent I've fixed the problem, I was caused by NOD32 antivirus system. Once the new updates came out for guildwars a few days ago NOD32 must have got screwed up or something, heres how to fix.
Open NOD32
-
Click "IMON"
-
Click "Setup"
-
Click "Miscellaneous" tab in IMON setup window
-
Click "Edit" under Exclusion
-
A new window will come up
-
Click the "Add" button
-
Browse to where guildwars is installed and click Gw.exe and select "Open"
-
The box should close and click "OK" in the "exclude applications window"
-
Click "OK" again in the "IMON Setup" window and everything should be fixed
