My girlfriend and I are both rather addicted--we form a relatively effective two-Monk team. Easy for the Monks on your team to coordinate when they're in the same room.

We met, actually, ON the internet, in an IRC roleplay room, and now that we live together we STILL spend much of our time together online. What can I say, it's important to us.

Yup, me and my fiancé play together as well, both in the same room... it can get ugly if things aren't going to plan though. Good thing is we share drops, as he mainly plays a Warrior and myself, an ele. And we never seem to get the right drops for our own profession.... >.<

lol I personally think b/f and g/f relationships that spread to that kind of level is unhealthy, I mean would really prefer to spend all your "together" time at home playing a video game? wouldn't it be better to go out to a more pratical place i.e the cinema, bowling, out to a club etc something more hands on.
Yes it maybe expensive but comon look at the bigger picture! when have relationships always been cheap!?!
Honestly I don't know how playing games together will help develop a persons relationship in the long run..

I have a g/f and I don't even let her near my computer, I don't want her to be playing games although I'm not banning her rights to play it lol, Its just I love the social interaction we have at the moment, talking lots on several subjects and on different levels.
If you played with your partner constantly on a game, the effects of the game slowly start to become apart of your relationship.. and that is a bad sign!
A good couple of games on what... mario party or a nice race on mario kart is fine for a couple, but for something like a online RPG..... geeze

Im not sure about you people but I don't want to be meeting up with my girlfriend and talking about the best builds on GW and how annoying touch rangers and IWAYers are, and having a good moan about ANET about their updates...

oh well.

This is a good read btw:

My husband started this game - I thought it was silly.... 2 months later I decide to give it a try - after all he is having so much fun!

His and her computers about 4 feet apart - it is great. If his group can't find a monk - he just hollers for me

my significant other plays FFXI and WoW. I play GW.

She's trying to get me to play Gunz now. ~_~ We'll probably play PSU when that goes public live.

I have been playing the game, very activly for over a yr now, and my wife started playing within a week of me playing.... usualy we get along fine, but she can get upset if i play to much (smiles at wife)....

For us, it is usualy better then if our quality time was watching tv, blowing cash at the bar, or such....

Disagreement happen in real life, as they do in game, if you cant work around them, then u are not ment to be... especialy if a game argument would ruin a real life relationship....

Everyone has different things they like and do, if you cant work around that, and come to some agreement, then someone wants way to much control or such....

I had a friend ingame, he played about 2 nights a week, about 8 hrs a week total... his fiance told him it was going to be game or her.... alittle harsh if you ask me....

I play with many other couples in game, and most of us feel the same way we do about the game, and dont let game arguments carry into our real life and such...

There was however another couple that were in my guild, they still play game together from my knowledge, but they left guild because someone asked one of them to help with a mission but not the other... alittle harsh to just leave for that, but to each their own.....

It all comes down to the simple things with a relationship, you must like what your partner likes, or u adapt or give up. i am not saying conform ur life to ur spouces, but compromises can always be made and such.... and if the game is interfering with ur real life relationship, then u need to access, and cut back on gameing and such....

And to the guy up top there.... so u think a competitive game betwenn ppl is better then one where u work together?

And i agree, best dual monk teams = team husband wife, or the team of dad and son, both of whom i play with quite often.. easy conversation and coordination for them....

Pffft. A lot of couples dont even spend quality time together anymore, so any time spent doing something fun is a good thing even if it's just playing video games. As for it being unhealthy, doing ANYTHING in excess is a bad thing...moderation is always key. And I doubt that these videogame playing couples only play videogames, you know...

My boyfriend and I both bought GW at the same time - initially with the idea to go through it together, although in the end we went through it at different speeds wanting to do different things but helped each other out.

We met online too in a chat room - sounds like there lots of other ppl also out there who met online. Who needs online dating sites when there are online RPG's lol

My husband and I play together and have from the start... He got his copy a few days before me and I refused to let him play till I had one to... (we fought a little over that but we got over it rather fast)

The most my husband and I ever fight about as far as the game goes is the guild. Trying to keep it running smoothly and such. When he gets too busy with school and work I have control over it. But it's plain to see that they will follow his lead no matter what (which doesn't bother me at all), but I have to throw guilt trips at him to get him to play more and such.

If its not that its me being lazy and him being jealous that I get to play more often than him. Beyond that we love playing together. Anything we fight over game related is just silliness unless its our guildies. That is the one thing we both take very seriously.

I wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for him <3

(and there are MANY couples in our guild, including some married and one couple having a baby today so WOOT!)

can i hit on any of you here? kidding

It seems that online gaming has the ability to get peoples to fall in love with other? For reading at different posts, most of you met online through chat room or games.

The only type of games that my wife plays usually involve aligning 3 brightly coloured somethings to make them disappear.
She recently complained that I play GW too much so I showed her my /age and she went nuts. I then calculated that it's actually less time than she's spent watching crappy soaps over the last year. That didn't go down too well though.

None of my friends, male or female, know that I play Guild Wars, and nor will they. Sad as it is, I'm pretty embarrassed about my hobby.
