Request: Beta Ascalon City

Anyone have pictures from the old Post-Searing Ascalon City, back when everyone had tabards and you had to buy skill gems?

I think I deleted mine...because they sure aren't with my other GW screenshots...

Bah... if you wanna help me recover the info from my dead 60 gb hard drive I can give you all the pics you want . I found lots of glitches in beta ascalon like rocks you can walk thru and all that kind of stuff

There are still rocks you can walk through.........I spend my time sitting in them.

wow.... wish I had been around to try the game back then.....

I have quite a few ss from when I first started. I don’t remember the skill gems, but I do remember the skill charms. I’ll assume that both are two different things though.


This is when I wanted to see if you could go into a building, but then Gwen followed and got me stuck on the stairs. Then she started asking for the flowers I had... so I gave them to her hoping she’d let me free.


The old buy/sell system for outfitters (merchants).. also note: gold was very hard to get!


Just a ss of being out in a mission with a team. I believe the greenish warrior is Prince Rurik


Had to add at least one ss of another beta event where Gwen fried everyone

But I guess you’re referring more to stuff like in the link below, since I started GuildWars sometime after the tabards:

i have a bunch of early beta screenshots kickin around, ill post em. anybody remember when you could buy hundred blades in ascalon city i was so pissed when i didnt find it in the real game

In the end, I went searching online and through the controls for a jump button. When I didn’t find that, I went looking for a /stuck command of some sorts, and discovered the /jump emote and tried using that a few times. Wanna guess how that turned out?

I would love to have been able to play even a month earlier - I was forced to wait for my birthday present though. lol
